I’m just saying there are so many things beyond “what we’re born with” that shape who we are. I’m not an expert on queer people but I know for a fact I’m not attracted to the I May Be Old But I Was A Washington Redskins Fan When It Was Cool Shirti Can Do All Things Through Christ 2024 Shirt but I will buy this shirt and I will love this same things I was at the start of my sexual journey, life changes you in every way The numbers don’t play that out. Kids apoted by gay couples run the same as straight couples as to how their sexual preferences turn out. My very progressive sister inlaw has 4 very straight cis kids while her Maga sister has 2 lesbian kids. For sure nurture has a huge part on your personality but as we have seen time and time again even very conservative preachers who come from very conservative families are prone to pay gay prostitutes.

I May Be Old But I Was A Washington Redskins Fan When It Was Cool Shirti Can Do All Things Through Christ 2024 Shirt: Unleash Your Dinosaur Style

I didn’t mean to imply that parents are teaching kids to be gay or anything. It’s more like if I was attracted to both men and women but then had a series of terrible experiences with women something like that might change my attraction to them. Nurture probably wasn’t the I May Be Old But I Was A Washington Redskins Fan When It Was Cool Shirti Can Do All Things Through Christ 2024 Shirt but I will buy this shirt and I will love this perfect word to use but experience shapes every aspect of us, even our sexuality I personally believe that labelling sexualities was a huge mistake for humanity as a whole. Anyone has the capacity to be attracted to anyone else under the right circumstances. I could say that I’m only attracted to women, but I have no actual way of knowing that I’ll never in my entire life meet a boy that I have the capacity to develop attraction towards.
I have the I May Be Old But I Was A Washington Redskins Fan When It Was Cool Shirti Can Do All Things Through Christ 2024 Shirt but I will buy this shirt and I will love this same sentiment with gender, too. If we didn’t label all this shit it’d be a much easier life for so many people. People could dress how they like without ideas about what is and isn’t appropriate for their certain gender, being insecure about not fitting in with gender norms like boys don’t cry or girls have to be quiet and demure, etc. would be so much better for society as a whole. Do you know how much discourse just wouldn’t exist???? Like I swear humans obsession with fitting everything into a box when we’re all so diverse it’s impossible to do that exact thing will be the death of us all. Like, that’d the same argument a conservative grandma might make. “Oh you just haven’t found the right man for yourself yet”

Get this I May Be Old But I Was A Washington Redskins Fan When It Was Cool Shirti Can Do All Things Through Christ 2024 Shirt

I don’t think that’s what they meant though. Nobody thinks parents are just teaching kids to be gay, but things like who you’re around and what you see as a child definitely can play a role. If that’s the I May Be Old But I Was A Washington Redskins Fan When It Was Cool Shirti Can Do All Things Through Christ 2024 Shirt but I will buy this shirt and I will love this case, couldn’t one make an argument that it does go both ways then? Like, if seeing 2 dude’s kiss in buzzlight year movie might make a 9 year old boy question his sexuality, why couldn’t one argue seeing Woody and Miss Bow Peep kissing also influences that same 9 year old boy? I strongly believe I’m into women because of the behaviors I seen as normal online as a child. I’m not super sexually attracted, but the romance side is enticing because I usually am the lead. I think the way my mother raised me to be a ball of fire, instead of obey and serve, makes me want to play that kind of role in my life. Thus why I’m into feminine men and softer women, it’s easier for me to take the lead in those aspects. But I really believe had my mother raised me opposite that I would possibly only like men. I didn’t just start liking women, I was presented with a type of personality that I found compatible with mine within mostly women. I like a very specific type of woman and didn’t find sexual attraction, just romantic attraction. I could be with a woman but only mentally. Big reason for that is growing up in a very religious household and have never felt comfortable exploring that aspect, but easy to hide that from them on the internet in anonymity. – through role-playing, videochatting, etc
Probably why I’m with a very feminine man, I find attraction in both aspects with him. Plus, my family doesn’t look down on me for being with him because he’s a man. Certain things do affect your sexuality though, gay or straight. I think a lot of this “people are born the I May Be Old But I Was A Washington Redskins Fan When It Was Cool Shirti Can Do All Things Through Christ 2024 Shirt but I will buy this shirt and I will love this way they are and that doesn’t change” talk comes from having to combat the very aggressive religious right because it was one of the few ways they could actually be shut up but I think both nature and nurture have a role to play in just about everything human Not at all, I never even said it was a “decision” it’s just not necessarily ingrained in your DNA. You can’t admit that to those conservatives though because it gives them this wiggle room to argue that you need to be “cured” so if you take a hard stance that it’s the “way you were born” you could even make the argument that God wanted you to be gay. It’s a powerful weapon in a culture war even if it’s not 100% true. Obviously it doesn’t matter either way, being gay (or anything else) isn’t a crime Exactly. You’re not just born gay the same way you’re not born an adult, you go through life experiences that shape you into an adult. Those life experiences that shape your sexuality might not be even remotely sexual in nature but they don’t have to be, it’s just experiences that lead to you being “you”, no matter what sexuality you end up being.
But OP wasn’t claiming it was a choice. Like learning your home language isn’t a choice but that doesn’t mean you were born speaking English. Not saying it’s entirely environmental like learning a language but it’s an interesting question. I’ve never thought of or tried to flip the I May Be Old But I Was A Washington Redskins Fan When It Was Cool Shirti Can Do All Things Through Christ 2024 Shirt but I will buy this shirt and I will love this switch. God bless everyone’s individual desires, but I know where I’m at Im not saying you can’t be born gay, but since we develop a sexual attraction for others at around puberty is it possible sexuality is developed during this stage and not at birth? Being gay would still occur naturally but does it happen at birth? Or during puberty? (Gay man here). I never realized that I had crushed on boys as a kid. I grew up in a very religious family and community. I had never seen a gay person, I had never heard of gay people, i was completely unaware that it was a possibility. When I hit puberty, I just thought that I must be a late bloomer and I would start feeling attracted to girls any day now. When I was 16, I was praying to finally grow into it, but it just never happened.
It wasn’t until I was an adult that I finally accepted that I had feelings for men and realized that it was normal and natural, and just the I May Be Old But I Was A Washington Redskins Fan When It Was Cool Shirti Can Do All Things Through Christ 2024 Shirt but I will buy this shirt and I will love this way I’ve always been. In my experience, I’ve been this way my entire life, even as a young kid. I didn’t choose it, and it didn’t come from some childhood trauma or because my parents didn’t raise me the right way. I didn’t even know that gay people existed or it was a way some people were. I think it is good for young people to learn about it. It isn’t trying to recruit them, but if I had known about gay people earlier and if I had lived inside a system that taught me that it is ok to be yourself, however you are, I would be a much healthier and happier person. I would have a lot less baggage and trauma.
One of my friends from middle school is gay. He wasn’t ever extra-effeminate or anything like that, but while the I May Be Old But I Was A Washington Redskins Fan When It Was Cool Shirti Can Do All Things Through Christ 2024 Shirt but I will buy this shirt and I will love this rest of us were talking about girls he really wasn’t interested. We didn’t think much of it, maybe he was just shy. But then for some reason in our sophomore year — like literally over the course of a month — he kind of had this slow, layered epiphany that he liked dudes. More to the point, he had pretty specific tastes in dude. He liked skater dudes. He was not a skater himself. We were young punks and were at a show that drew a lot of skater dudes from other schools and I’d never seen him so nervous. In hindsight, it was hella cute. This, of course, wasn’t the most convenient type of guy for him to be into, but you can’t help how you feel with this kind of thing.
He’d never really been exposed to anything queer and it took him a couple of weeks to figure out why 1) he wasn’t into girls and 2) he really like watching the I May Be Old But I Was A Washington Redskins Fan When It Was Cool Shirti Can Do All Things Through Christ 2024 Shirt but I will buy this shirt and I will love this skater dudes skate with their shirts off. He never came out per-se but he didn’t really have to, it was pretty obvious after a couple of weeks. In college he wound up meeting a gay and very handsome — like, way — snowboarder. To him that counted (“X-gaymes” is what we called him) and they’re still together to this day, years later. Dude same. I’m a woman, but I’m convinced that access to lesbian books saved my life. Because while I wasn’t raised in the exact environment you described my parents never mentioned gay people to me at all. Like they weren’t homophobic, it just never occurred to them that I might be gay, and so I was convinced I was the only girl who liked girls for ages. Doomed to a life of solitude. Then I read a couple of books and it all clicked. And this is why we can’t ban books, because some of us wouldn’t be here without them. Things that make you gay seem to be equal parts genetics, conditions in the womb and life experience. Therefore you are 2/3 “born gay” if that makes sense to say. I will try and find the study where I read this.
Edit: having read a little more the I May Be Old But I Was A Washington Redskins Fan When It Was Cool Shirti Can Do All Things Through Christ 2024 Shirt but I will buy this shirt and I will love this variance given to post natal life experience varies quite a bit, it also seems there isn’t as much research on lesbian / bisexuals so the conclusions there are weaker. The question is not fully answered. It can fluctuate over time, but most gay people are exactly what they claim to be from the start, same as straight and bi people. There can be signs when they’re a child too – one guy described how you can tell in his childhood photos that he was clearly “baby gay” – but it’s better just to leave that in subjective territory. There’s not a whole lot you can do about it either. I imagine it’ll be possible in the future to alter a person’s sexuality chemically, but we’re nowhere near that and it’s probably not advisable anyway. I’m gay and believe you’re born gay (waiting for solid research to support that or teach me otherwise). I think where this question really needs to go is, do the environments you’re put in during your youth suppress/amplify your primal feelings towards males/females? Some people don’t realize till late in life because they’ve never been exposed to it/it was looked down upon. Also in a lot documented ancient civilization, gays have been documented. The perception of them was mostly good minus a few communities.
i’ve asked hundreds of babies. The most common answer is a condescending look with a noise that didn’t give me a definitive answer. everyone knows babies are not fond of questionnaires. This one baby in Reno gave me a very long winded answer, he had cited a number of sources and really delved into a sort of jungian rant, i sorta spaced off during it, so i don’t recall his if he was gay or straight. That one is on me. To be fair, it’s kind of a ridiculous question. I mean not the I May Be Old But I Was A Washington Redskins Fan When It Was Cool Shirti Can Do All Things Through Christ 2024 Shirt but I will buy this shirt and I will love this question itself, but the implication behind it that a study like that would even be possible lol. Where did you learn your mating behaviour? Did you enrol in a course or something that taught you who to find attractive? There are no definitive scientific studies that show specific genetic similarities between gay men that aren’t found also in straight men. It’s unlikely for homosexuality to be a purely genetic phenomenon.
Gay men also appear in all races, ethnicities, and cultures all around the I May Be Old But I Was A Washington Redskins Fan When It Was Cool Shirti Can Do All Things Through Christ 2024 Shirt but I will buy this shirt and I will love this world. It’s unlikely that only nurture/environment is responsible for homosexuality. I am gay and can absolutely confirm that I was born this way, at least from my earliest memories. At age 2, I was already playing with dolls and gravitated towards things that were considered feminine. While that’s not necessarily an indicator of homosexuality, it was clear from birth that I was just “different” from most standard boys. It’s weird to say it, but you just knew I wasn’t “like the other boys”, in the way that I had a hard time relating to boy-things and felt major comfort being around women. Now, interesting as my dad wasn’t always around and I do feel that I lacked some kind of male influence in my childhood. Did this make me gay? It’s hard to say, as Ive sometimes asked myself if this is what caused me to later seek out love from another man. But then again, my personality was SET from age 3, so I think I was born with it, and once my father started noticing that I wasn’t a typical boy, he just stopped making the effort as he couldn’t relate to me. You’re born with a sexual orientation preference, you don’t just “become gay”. You might however learn what your actual sexual oritentation is once you go through puberty however. And because, at least until more recently, media and the world has been pretty opposed to showing LGBT people and situations, the default that a lot of kids grow up with is only seeing straight things, straight people, straight couples and situations. I can see how someone ignorant might then draw the conclusion because of that, that they have to “learn” to become gay later in life because clearly they didn’t know it until then and they saw all that gay “mating behaviour” stuff right!!! But that’s not how it works. They’ve always been gay, stuff has never felt right, until they actually start acting on those “gay” feelings or seeing those gay people, characters, situations, and realizing that’s what’s right for them. That’s what feels natural to them. THAT’S what they’ve been missing. It’s why LGBT reprentation is so important. It’s as engrained in your being as you being straight and liking the opposite gender in sexual and romantic ways. You didn’t learn to be straight, you knew you were straight because of the intense feelings you had for the opposite gender and how right and natural that felt. Being gay has those exact same feelings except towards the same gender, it’s not something that’s learned, it’s a natural, innate, immovable part of someone.
Yeah, I’d really like to here gays perspective on this. I’ve always liked girls. Even in first grade I had this one girl I was always trying to impress. Then, at 12 y.o., before puberty even hit, I kissed my first girlfriend. There was nothing sexual about it. It was the I May Be Old But I Was A Washington Redskins Fan When It Was Cool Shirti Can Do All Things Through Christ 2024 Shirt but I will buy this shirt and I will love this purest, most beautiful feeling of love I was having a discussion with my friend about what would it be like to have a gay son and we both then started thinking to eachother, are they born like that or do they learn that mating behavior later on. Someone please clarify it for me. If people have to learn to be gay, then everyone until recently would be straight, because they were surrounded by nothing but straight (sometimes closeted) parents, teachers, media, everything. Yet somehow, they were still gay. Although gays are still discriminated against, it was worse years back, and they were still gay. Why would anyone choose to be ostracized and treated like that? Because they didn’t choose it. They were born gay.
I don’t think it’s as black and white as we think. I think you’re environment growing up also plays a role in in your sexual preference. What kind of people you surrounded yourself with, the I May Be Old But I Was A Washington Redskins Fan When It Was Cool Shirti Can Do All Things Through Christ 2024 Shirt but I will buy this shirt and I will love this types of media you consume etc. Autism is also linked to someone being gay/bi etc. I think it can be a combination of things physical, emotional, societal things that can alter your brain chemistry I definitely believe you’re born gay. And he does not talk to his family so they weren’t exposed to it more or anything. My boyfriend has a lot of gay people in his family. All 3 of his teenage daughters are lesbians. The more I see the more I know you’re born that way. But that doesn’t mean anything right? That could also mean he/family raises (nurture) in a way that they grow up gay.
When they’re super young they’re around it a lot. It’s similar to saying a swear word around a toddler and they never forget it. They weren’t around it at all I should have clarified but he doesn’t tsk to any of his family and didn’t when he had kids. They weren’t over exposed to it or anything. I’m hard pressed to believe it’s environmental. There’s a lot out there that says it’s not, not to mention we see it in nature. You also aren’t born depressed. That’s often nurture and nature aswel. Doesn’t have to be overexposed to get that either. You’re born gay (or straight). Your sexuality is “set up” in the I May Be Old But I Was A Washington Redskins Fan When It Was Cool Shirti Can Do All Things Through Christ 2024 Shirt but I will buy this shirt and I will love this womb, just as many other aspects of your biology. Probably. Not saying it’s a choice but just that your environment when you’re really young plays a huge role in your personality and sexuality. I’m not sure really. Just going from my experience, I lived with my mom for like 80% of my life and I have a lot of more feminine mannerisms and a more feminine music taste and stuff like that. Nobody “becomes” gay, just as nobody becomes straight. Whether someone is gay, straight, bi, etc. is genetically and epigenetically determined, i. e. inborn. There’re multiple genes that influence sexual orientation.
I get that it’s usually not a choice but you’re speaking in an absolute that I don’t think is true. If were to suck a dick one time to win a bet, I would become homosexual at least until I was done sucking it. If I never sucked one again, I was still technically homosexual that one time for a few minutes. But yeah I’d say the I May Be Old But I Was A Washington Redskins Fan When It Was Cool Shirti Can Do All Things Through Christ 2024 Shirt but I will buy this shirt and I will love this vast majority are born that way. Otherwise why would so many people over history have chosen to be something that was the most reviled and oppressed and vilified thing in the world by pretty much every religion and establishment on earth? Well I’ve never been attracted to girls and I never made a choice about who I’m attracted to. As a child I was more girly than other boys (which is common among gays, but not always the case), but I was not aware of any sexual preference until it showed up in puberty honestly for me it wasnt really “becoming” gay but it was more “realizing” it, i was kinda sheltered and didnt really have a word for what i was feeling about some of my same sex friends but once i figured out that that word was “gay” i was like “ohhhhhhhh shit so THATS what that was” LMAO. i think the fact that i was feeling same-sex attractions before i even knew what it meant to be gay vs straight points to it being largely innate/biological
First of all, being gay is not just “mating behaviour”, it’s who you fall in love with, who you find attractive, etc. From what I have seen, there are 3 times where it usually becomes apparent. At 7, around puberty (~14), and somewhere around the I May Be Old But I Was A Washington Redskins Fan When It Was Cool Shirti Can Do All Things Through Christ 2024 Shirt but I will buy this shirt and I will love this age of 21. It’s a mix. If it was solely innate, identical twins would always have the same sexuality. However, if one twin is gay, an identical twin has a higher rate of being gay than a non-identical twin would. Very few things are purely innate, buy genetics and life interminable to make us who we are. That includes physical characteristics such as height, but also personality characteristics such as risk taking and intelligence. Always intrigued me that some people found out that they’re gay at a later stage of their lives cause I always knew that I am gay when I was 5. So, to answer your question, I guess it depends on the person? The way I see it, your sexuality is influenced by a large number of genetic and environmental factors, all of which are out of your control. But, TMI, when I discovered masturbation I accidentally pictured being kissed by my friend (a dude). And it sent me. I (also a dude) didn’t know it then, but it was definitely the first sign that I was gay. It wasn’t a choice. It just existed.
After years of choosing to be straight, and failing, and hating myself for failing, I gave up and accepted myself. Seriously who would intentionally choose to be gay and potentially live your whole life treated differently in a bad way? I mean, if you had a choice why choose to be scorned, ridiculed, discriminated against and treated poorly your entire life? As far as I know, we don’t know for sure. There is some evidence that genetics plays a role, but there’s little evidence that it is the I May Be Old But I Was A Washington Redskins Fan When It Was Cool Shirti Can Do All Things Through Christ 2024 Shirt but I will buy this shirt and I will love this main factor, and certainly little evidence that it’s the only factor. Obviously, it’s also not something you can just decide one day. If it is something that can change after birth, it will likely be a gradual process that is affected by a lot of environmental factors. And it could also be decided entirely by genetics. Its different in every case. Some are born that way others become that way through life experiences. Its weird when people say that you’re born that way but then the same people complain about indoctrination of their kids in schools. If you’re born that way then indoctrination or “grooming” would never work so why worry about it? The people who say you’re born that way aren’t the same people who go on about “indoctrination or grooming” in schools. Homosexuality is one of the exceedingly few things that has been present in nearly every culture throughout history (notably, so are heterosexuality and various other forms of attraction that we would call “queer” nowadays). My personal belief as someone who is gay and transgender is that we are born without any specific predisposition, and learn what sorts of attraction to feel through a very wide array of societal factors. It is also highly probable that genetically determined hormone levels play some sort of role, as well.
