Since this is cs career questions I’d encourage you to think about how you advocate for yourself both at home and at work. I’d suggest finding a mentor and getting super specific on what you want out of your career. I work hard and am successful at my job.” You can take it as far as you want, but sometimes, sorry to say it, you have to stick up for yourself and deal with short term awkwardness for long term respect and improvements in your relationships. Also, I’ve known people who act mean to cover not being good at their jobs. If they are difficult to deal with, people will avoid asking them questions. I’ve seen guys skate by like that for years.
