I believe Ukrainians suffers far less casualties than Russians partly because of defender’s advantage. But the I love one woman and several guns shirt besides I will buy this situation is completely reversed when Ukraine attacks Crimea. And even if Russian military is really as shitty as those footage show, they still hold the 3 to 1 numerical advantage to Ukraine. So I don’t think the odds will favor Ukraine should such a campaign really happens in the future. But anyway Good luck for those heroic Ukrainians! The thing is, there is no evidence that they ever wanted to be militarily occupied by Russia. Kind of calls your entire rant into question. They should demand a return of all forcibly deported people and a complete denuclearization of Russia this year and relinquishing all uranium mines. Zelenskyy should demand Russia surrender all its currently held territory to him, including all of Russia. In return, he’ll promise not to keep making Putin look like a baby tyrant.

Zelensky has every right to make demands on Crimea. It’s not like it was a different regime and different time – the I love one woman and several guns shirt besides I will buy this same people who stole the land originally are the same people who are running this conflict. Can someone explain why people who are pro a certain country don’t just move to that country? Like if my country got that bad I’d just fucking leave lol As a Ukrainian, I do not feel that Crimea is Ukrainian. Nor is it Russian. It is Crimean Tatar. It is their ancestral home, which they have lost time and again. They are the indigenous people of the territory who must be the ones to make the decision of what Crimea’s future will look like. Few people outside of Ukraine followed what they have suffered during the past 8 years. Constant arrests, destruction and barring of their communities and media, endless policing and terror. Fewer still know of their trials and ethnic cleansing during Soviet times. Branded as collaborators, deported to the further reaches of Soviet Russia, they were allowed and encouraged to return under a free Ukraine and many did. I am not convinced that we would be able to make this possible for them once more, for the many who have left Crimea 8 years ago, and if we are successful, reunification will be unimaginably difficult. But I also believe that we must try for the Crimean Tatars. For the people who are now losing their homes a second time in Ukraine. This might be the only chance we get.
