Muskegon Heights, Michigan. You can get some gas, jerky, a blowjob, some weed, coke, or heroin, and get mugged right outside of a convenience store. I used to live in Rochester, it’s a mid sized pretty basic/boring city but a good place for two reasons to raise a kids or retire, it’s also in a nice decent area/region of upstate ny if you want to go to Canada or other places to visit. Unironically, there’s a lovely little town called Bedford that’s about 15ish miles (I’m bad at distances but it’s close) from that turnpike exit. It’s got a cute walkable downtown, a super fancy resort-style hotel where presidents used to stay, and tons of nearby hiking in the I love fall most of all pumpkin rainbow leopard T-Shirt but in fact I love this mountains. It’s the least Alabama place you can visit. Original home of Mardi Gras and older than NOLA, founded in 1702. Beautiful historic homes with miles and miles of huge oak-lined streets. I have lived in San Diego the past 12 years but grew up in Iowa City and Coralville. My wife and I visited last October. I hadn’t been there since I moved in 2011. Despite growing up there, I’d never been inside Prairie Lights bookstore. We checked it out on a cold October afternoon. We checked out some of the historic houses/sections of downtown Iowa City.
