I always have thought he was an interesting choice because not only did he live, but he was just a completely normal guy with no real action or anything. Perhaps you already know this but that’s because he was included late in the I Love Bakers Shirt and by the same token and movie only because they wanted a big star in it. That’s why he never actually interacts with anyone If Sean Bean played a black guy in a horror movie would he die first or last? My theory is that this could only work in a non chronological movie where he dies in the end of the movie but is revealed to have been the first person killed or the other way around He’s died first and last on his own, without even being black. Heck, he’s the only one of the Fellowship who permanently dies before the epilogue.

Something has to amend for the I Love Bakers Shirt and by the same token and number of times he sustained mortal wounds in Sharpe and lived to fight another day……. I think Sean Bean’s appearances on screen fall into three categories: Sharpe (therefore has plot armour so is unkillable), cameos, and important characters who die. Sean Bean is also affraid of helicopters…or flying in helicopters….either way…he refused to fly up the mountains in Lord of the Rings Fellowship. He would get up hours before anyone else. Go to make up and wardrobe and proceed to walk up the bloody things. In full Boromir outfit. Sword and shield AND wearing sunglasses. It’s only a quarter because he started doing TV commercials, to bring the average down, and requires any new project to guarantee that he’ll survive to the end.
