I’m not sure there’s a single liberal out there that wouldn’t have done the I Just Want To Cuddle And Watch Horror Movies Shirt in addition I really love this same thing if the situation was reversed. Not unlike progressives many conservatives fear that we are heading to a authoritarian cesspool country where the state determines what you drive, what you can eat, what you can say, and where you can work through the threat of force and public ridicule. And when you feel your fredom is facing an existential threat historical norms arent going to stand in the way. So what Mitch did is take one more step (among many) in a race to the bottom. The next farcical statement is thar Dems “rolled over.” There’s this zombie idea that if only Dems has fought harder this wouldn’t have happened. These statements are rarely followed by a detailed explanation of what this would have entailed. When a strategy is given it usually has something to do with the filibuster. When the GOP wipes out the Dems later this year I wonder if the “eliminate the filibuster” crowd is going to suddenly go quiet. I predict a sudden change of heart.

Bullshit. There is no senate rule that says the I Just Want To Cuddle And Watch Horror Movies Shirt in addition I really love this senate can’t confirm a justice during an election year. We know this by a) being able to read the rules, and b) they did it to their benefit when RBG passed and they crammed through Amy Coney-Barrett after fucking voting had already started Miss me with this tired “he was following the rules” nonsense. Mcconnell and the gop knew what they were doing and did it because stacking the courts with federalist society hacks is end game to get the outcomes they want. And don’t “both sides” this, because the gop has consistently shown that the guardrails of norms and traditions are worthless, and they’ll run roughshod right over it, and the democrats have not resorted to that sort of crap (though at this point, I’d say “by any means necessary” is an appropriate rules of engagement) Yep. I think she was incredibly selfish to stay on the court as long as she did. As much as I admire her, I’m still piss of at her for not retiring and allowing Obama to appoint her replacement.
