They find it in every body of water no matter how pristine or unpolluted. It’s in the I Have Two Titles Dad And Papa Rock Them Both Retro Father’s Day T-Shirt but in fact I love this cells of animals and plants and floating around in your blood. It’s down in the water table where even the finest of particles are filtered out as water moves through rocks. IMO were going to find out that microplastic is actually physically interfering with processes in our bodies or brain like sand in a machine. And MDF. I have a feeling here in 25 years it’ll be “did you or someone you love contract 400 cancers from working with MDF?” And PEX piping. I was talking to a plumber the other day and he was trying to sell me on a whole re-pipe of my house because it is so easy these days when they redo it all with PEX. Plastic piping for all water (yes, hot water too). I was horrified.

…all your water is likely running through plactic pipes anyway somewhere in the I Have Two Titles Dad And Papa Rock Them Both Retro Father’s Day T-Shirt but in fact I love this system. Plumbers haven’t used copper regularly for a very, very long time. To be fair the name “plumber” comes from the Latin word for lead since that is what all water pipes were made of for centuries. Copper piping itself isnt much older than the great depression. I think the problem with “plastic” is it’s a generic term for a bajillion types of synthetic materials. There’s lots of plastics that are known to cause cancer and other diseases. I’m sure there’s a bunch that are fine. But by simply referring to all of them as plastic it creates an ugly mesh of real information and misinformation that the average person can’t distinguish and probably gives power to the corporations making the poisonous shit because we can’t sort out what we’re actually arguing against. It is much worse. Asbestos only gives you cancer, I’m starting to believe microplastics will be responsible for an apocalyptic level crisis. The endocrine disrupting properties of plastic products and all the other shit we are constantly polluting the earth with might just end up plunging us right into Children of Men territory.
