I think there are plenty of deadly animals in the USA, probably more that Australia, and they are all scared of drop bears and hoop snakes. lol I’ve never understood this, I lived in rural Canada with LITERAL FUCKING GIANT BEARS, and all my mates there would be fascinated by the spiders back home and how I could possibly live there. It’s like… firstly, every single spider can be killed with a fly spray or shoe if you are game enough. Secondly, worst case scenario, you get bitten and you go to the hospital, like other than Funnel Webs it’s not even that big a deal. Snakes can be scarier for sure but unless you are in the bush or live rural, they aren’t an everyday reality, and similarly if you are anywhere remotely urban, you go to the hospital and it’ll be ok. Try squishing a Cougar with a shoe… Or run across a pissed Grizzly with cubs and just go to the hospital after it bites you.

I understand the I Hate People Sunflower Vintage Sunset T-Shirt What’s more,I will buy this idea that spiders can be in your home is maybe intimidating, your not gonna go to bed to find a Grizzly on the ceiling, but still, the consequences are not remotely the same. I live in rural Queensland and it’s probably at least 6 months since I saw a huntsman. Only seen 1 snake in real life In a little over 15000km of hiking in 25 years, on tracks, bush-bashing and beaches around the east coast, I’ve seen less than a dozen deadly snakes while hiking. I’ve seen 1 deadly spider (a funnel web. In my fucking tent.. and it must have come with me, because that was in FNQ.) I live on a farm (moving into town soon though!) and I can go weeks without seeing a huntsman spider and very occasionally I see snakes. But even the snakes would rather piss off away from me. It actually infuriates me how Americans go on about our “deadly animals” as if we’re running around constantly fending them off. Yet they go hiking and have a real risk of being eaten alive by bears. They’re so ignorant. What the hell are you doing dude? Spreading misinformation about how we don’t have deadly fauna that we’re constantly dodging on a daily basis. That’s what’s keeping out a lot of the loud and obnoxious American tourists. You want more of then in the country? Hiking in Alaska it’s not uncommon to have a grizzly bear appear on the trail, sometimes running right in front of You, head further north and the bears turn white and things het really tricky. Black bears go through the trash cans and womble around the garden, moose in the works and on the roads and as you push south you’re dealing with gators, giant pythons, cotton mouths. go to the arid areas and it’s rattle snakes, cougars, oit friend the grizzly is still kicking around and of course the ocean host many of the same shark species. They’ve got some of the most worrying vertebrates wondering around and they get a terrified by a huntsman just looking to sort out your roach problem? Odd way of looking at things.
