Salary range is BS. I was offered lowest point in range twice and middle of range once. And requesting higher salary to start was useless. You’re a salesperson and so is the I Don’t Wanna Be An Adult shirt But I will love this recruiter. Sell yourself and justify your number. They expect it especially in a role like this. If you’re a producer already, it shouldn’t be hard to talk through your pipeline results, close rate, how you’ll impact team members around you. My expenses are very low. I bought a house 4 years ago for 120k, I don’t have home insurance, I only license 1 vehicle worth only a couple thousand, I have no cable, no streaming, I don’t drink smoke or do drugs, I am very thrifty grocery shopping (you won’t find us eating steak, salmon, ribs ect.) I never buy cloths for myself and all my kids cloths are second hand. Believe it or not i chose to live this way, I used to make 100k a year as a pharmacist but I hated it and now own my own business and answer to no one.

If OP was paid less, you wouldn’t be paid any more. Figure out who your real enemy is, and fight them. Where are you applying at where they put an expected salary on the posting? Every one I see doesn’t even list it “I don’t see a reason not to lie about your credentials when all they do is lie about the jobs they post” SPOT ONAt least they’re showing their true colors up front. If this is how they present themselves when trying to acquire you as a new hire, expect even worse treatment as an employee. One question is whether that $90k-$110k is really where the market is in your area. Like if 10 people came in to interview and are looking for $70k-$80k, and then you ask for $110k, it might be a surprise even though that’s what they advertised? Just trying to think of honest mistakes that might have been made causing a misunderstanding. Because of Colorado law, recruiters have to post the real salary range if it’s a job that could hire someone in that state (like a telecommuter). If it’s a large enough company, their compensation team probably did their research and market adjusted the salary for that role. My guess is that the hiring manager has no clue that’s the “new” going rate for that role and is pissed that a new direct report is about to make as much or more money than they are. So maybe not the hiring manager’s fault, but definitely signs of other BS going on.
