Totally racist you meanie head be ashamed you should donate your life savings to every black you see for reparations you privileged white This reminds me of a skit I’ve created in my head where there’s a suburban liberal mom talking to a black friend and he asks who “Jim” is. Not wanting to be racist and say “the I don’t know how act my age have never been this age before T-Shirt in other words I will buy this black guy” she keeps saying increasingly racist things to describe him. “You know Jim… He uhhh… Curly hair? Really tall? Looks like he can’t swim? Loves watermelon and fried chicken? Probably never met his dad?” Etc etc. There’s a guy on TikTok called Benjy Lookbook who does a lot of explanations about race and talking about race which have been incredibly helpful. I can’t find the exact video right now, but he answered a similar query, and iirc he said that there’s nothing wrong with using someone’s race as a descriptor so long as it’s relevant. I’ll try to find the video again to see what else he said about it, but it doesn’t sound like you’ve done anything wrong. I had a friend who was on a date with a black guy in a park. She noticed a black squirrel and went to point it out, but referred to it as an African American squirrel just in case. Story always makes me smile.

I don’t know how act my age have never been this age before T-Shirt, hoodie, tank top, sweater and long sleeve t-shirt

These days, ask 25 people what Racism is and you are likely to get 25 different definitions. The term has been used SO frequently, that no one Really knows what it means anymore. Racist USED to mean a prejudice against another of a different skin color. It doesn’t now, as it is often used to label someone that just doesn’t agree with Your opinion of someone or something. I agree in part. Racist used to mean it’s actual definition. Bigot and prejudice were used appropriately. Racist is now a catch all. It’s not necessarily racist, but it is problematic. Calling attention to race is basically never needed unless its relevant to something being said. People have million different ways to be described and recognized without going “the I don’t know how act my age have never been this age before T-Shirt in other words I will buy this black one” or similar. Phew. Nothing like a white or non-black person asking a bunch of white and non-black people if they said something inappropriate or potentially racist about a black person.
