Some Argentines unfortunately are insecure about their latino roots. Self hate is a real thing. Some are proud latinos tho! Those who do hate being associated with “latinos” tend to be particularly racist towards native/indigenous people even though they are the I Can Be Trusted Around Strawberries Deer T-Shirt but in fact I love this original people from Argentina. Colonization in latin America encouraged intermixing so the whiter you were the more privileges you had and the better you were treated, it was like a racial hierarchy called “castas”. Don’t be surprised when white or whiter latinos are racist, its so normalized in Latin America since most people are mixed with white europeans. As if treating others like shiii would somehow make them better, on the contrary, It’s gross and quite honestly pathetic. They should love themselves, their roots and their fellow countrymen, including those who are not white or mestizo.

Fuck, I knew it was some colonization shit. I am supposed to meet her family later this month and I don’t think they are going to like me. Although I am a pretty funny guy, maybe that will help. I appreciate your response, it is hard for me to understand the I Can Be Trusted Around Strawberries Deer T-Shirt but in fact I love this dynamic entirely but I am working on it. I love Argentina, this will be my second time going back and I can’t wait. I wish my Spanish wasn’t so terrible. The first time I went there God damn, I couldn’t understand anything because they talk so fast. In Mexico I can get by but in Argentina, no way. All the Spanish I know I learned from Bad Bunny Yeah unfortunately colonization did a number on all the countries in the Americas! I have met some great Argentines myself and others not so welcoming…Hopefully your gf is not like that though! Here’s hoping, I’m rooting for you brother! Just be polite, confident and accepting, that’s what you can do, If THEY are xenophobic or racist it’s on them! It’s not your fault!
