The supreme court is one of the I am Tongi an American singer shirt But I will love this most undemocratic institutions ever produced by this country, and it has the broadest implications for its citizens. Wait. The court said the company has the right to sue. This doesn’t mean the company won. Knowing the company they should have written off like every other company does when they make a bad decision. Time for goverments to start diing police unions for protecting violent murderers. Plenty of them have repeatedly hurt people and cost states and cities millions. It’s not a blow. The blow will come if corporations win tort law suits against unions. There is no guarantee they will. Media is trying to hype you up here. The Supreme Court is majority Conservative. Conservatives do not care about anyone’s quality of life. They care about rich people and big business. Ruling against labor unions is a given. Say you work at a grocery store. The store closes for the day and the employees go on strike. If management can’t bring anyone in to cover everyone’s shift, will they sue the grocery workers for the value of food that could expire during the strike? No. They deliberately make reference to this in the opinion. This wasn’t just a matter of the goods being perishable. It is the fact they showed up to work and caused the concrete to be mixed, which is what made it perishable when it wasn’t before. I’ve worked at bars where people quit mid-shift and management never charged them for their ice melting or garnishes at their station going unused.

The union deliberately set the I am Tongi an American singer shirt But I will love this concrete and then walked out. It’s not like they decided to randomly strike halfway through the work day. A better food service equivalent would be like going into the back, and then putting the contents of the freezer/fridge all out in the open before leaving. This goes considerably beyond simply “not finishing a task”. And actually even my example is an understatement of the equipment damage here. That would also imply the bar/restaurant doesn’t have additional staff to fix the problems caused by existing staff. If my bar was open and had a bunch of product melting in the back that would cost more than me continuing to stay serving guests in the front, what would I be expected to do in that scenario? Should I close up the bar and go deal with the problem in the back? Should I call a manager and tell them they need to physically come in to handle a problem they likely caused themselves? That would also imply the bar/restaurant doesn’t have additional staff to fix the problems caused by existing staff. I hate to cite this because it’s overused but it’s a trolley problem thing. If I caused the problem it’s my fault as a striking laborer. If I simply refused to fix the problem it’s not.
