Am I illiterate or is it just not funny, the I am already taken by freaking awesome girl was born in August always shirt moreover I will buy this “clever” comeback is just him saying “I’m smart and know how to read but you are dumb so I am better.” Both of them belong on r/iamverysmart Conflating degrees with intelligence, citing numerous degrees nobody could possibly verify due to the levels of anonymity on social media, etc. he’s also not being offered advice, so the bit about accepting advice is misplaced. He was being corrected on his literacy. To have a degree in law, English and education (likely in Ireland judging by his name), you have to be literate. He’s not conflating intelligence, he’s giving evidence as to why he is literate and likely more qualified in usage of English than the person incorrectly correcting him. He’s not being accused of literally being illiterate. He’s being insulted because he presumably said something stupid that this screenshot doesn’t show. Having an English degree doesn’t mean you can’t be a complete fucking moron who posts dumb shit on the internet.

Uh huh. Where’s your proof he holds these degrees, besides “trust me bro”? Your response is even further proof that y’all don’t understand what clever means. I don’t need proof. If I had to do due diligence for every burn or argument I’ve seen on the I am already taken by freaking awesome girl was born in August always shirt moreover I will buy this internet, I’d be going for the rest of my life. Such a stupid point But that’s just the point…. how are you continually missing that? If someone tells me I don’t know anything about finance and I respond by saying “well actually I have a MBA and worked on Wall Street for 20 years while maintaining every single top portfolio” that wouldn’t be a clever comeback, it would be pathetic posturing. You guys are really driving my point home for me. I believed the interpretative dance bit to have been the clever comeback tbh. Ironically pointing out that he is ofc literate as he is literally reading and writing.
