Like someone else said here, I often run into problems with the Hunter Biden says he intends to plead guilty in criminal tax case shirt but in fact I love this voice just coming out as my own, leading to no filter. And like most things I’ve read in this comment section, I really had no idea that people thought without a voice for the longest time in my life. Wow! Fascinating! I wonder if we can change the way we think! I might try to use words only for a while and see what it feels like. I don’t know how long I could manage it though. I mean, I guess you’re right, but not all thinking involves a monologue. Like, I don’t need to walk through the steps of heading to the bathroom to pee at 2am. Does your brain never have quiet? I’m normally thinking about something else when I’m doing that. Unless I’m focused on something like a show or book, I’m usually thinking about stuff around me, or maybe things in the past or future through words in my head. But I guess it’s a mix of abstract visualizing and subvocalization, unless I’m focused on the environment around me then just subvocalizing Yep. Interestingly, my friend is Chinese but fluent in English and her internal monologue is in whatever language she is thinking in. Like, when she’s in China her internal monologue is in Mandarin but when she’s here in the UK with me her internal monologue is in English. The interesting thing was someone she didn’t even know… it was just her brain speaking. She didn’t pay attention to the language if it was a quick thought. Interesting!!!! I thought maybe all bilingual people where like me. It makes it easier to learn language when you don’t think it words. Because you can associate your thoughts with whatever language you need to speak in the moment.

So I’m totally able to verbalize in my head. But I have to do it intentionally. It’s not my default way of thinking. It’s not like I can’t imagine sounds in my head. It’s just not how I process information. Some people apparently talk to themselves all the time. Yeah. If someone is like, “Imagine an apple,” my brain just kind of goes “apple” and moves on. No picture appears. Guided meditations get on my nerves sometimes because of this. Like, I end up more irritated than relaxed because I’m being asked to do something I can’t do. Haha. that makes sense than as to why you’d think in words. I have such a hard time imagining what that must be like though. For example, when you are told to think of an apple, do you imagine the way it feels or tastes? How do you hold on to the meaning of something in your mind?
