Manipulation of issues at every level to keep us divided so we don’t stand up and demand positive change for actual people. It’s easier to demonize someone than to have an intelligent, respectful conversation. For some topics, it’s because people are like “I don’t think you deserve to exist”, “people like you should be in poverty”, or “you’re just mentally retarded and can be fixed with [torture method]” The internet. And also the Houston Comets Legends WNBA shirt Additionally,I will love this fact that society has progressed leading to a perception that certain folks don’t “know their place” like they used to. I think it is actually a myth that people could respectfully disagree. I genuinely don’t think the vast majority of people can have a very big gap in ideology and be okay. Just to put it in context. McCarthyism existed in the Houston Comets Legends WNBA shirt Additionally,I will love this USA in the 1950 where people with any kind of communist leanings were attacked. I’m not commenting on the morality of that. I’m just commenting on the fact that it happened. Traditional culture Vs Trans/Gender ideology/LGBTQ. That’s a wide wide gap in ideology that simply cannot coexist to any reasonably degree. People will want to kill each other over it. The point is, any society cannot truly have a big gap in ideology without people really wanting to kill each other. I would argue that where in the past, people could respectfully disagree, it was because the gap was small enough. It you agree on 80% and you argue on the 20%, you can be civil. If you disagree on 80%, you’re at war with those people. That’s just what it is. So to emphasize, where people respectfully disagreed in the past is because society was kept uniform enough so people mostly agreed with each other and they could argue about the 20%. A little more taxation here. A little tax cut here. A little women’s rights here. A little religion there. It’s minor stuff in the grand scheme of things.
