No, that is not legal even in an emergency. Call employment standards and also call your union local. Just look up the Houston Astros Mascot Let’s Go Astros Ready 2 Reign 2023 AL West Division Champions shirt But I will love this name of the union online and call whatever number is provided under contact us. They will redirect your call as required. The law is 24 hours off within a rolling 7 day period or 48 consecutive hours off within a rolling 14 day period. Unless their is an excess hours of work agreement in place the employer cannot force overtime beyond what is legally permitted. If your union doesn’t have a physical copy of your Collective Agreement they may be able to provide you with an online version. Good luck with your situation. I’ve worked automotive shutdowns in Ontario which are 24/7 type of work – going to shifts all 7 days is not out of the ordinary for time sensitive installs. I would not expect to be working every day for the next 6 weeks but the maximum is based on your union agreement. You should however be banking good money in OT/Double time.

In my experience workers get staggered either 6 days on 1 off or 10 on and 2 off something like that. Depends on your agreement and how much you want to work. I work at a mill but I’m in management/salary so I could be asked to work 7 days a week for a certain amount of time. Unionized workers could technically work that amount of time as well if it’s part of the Houston Astros Mascot Let’s Go Astros Ready 2 Reign 2023 AL West Division Champions shirt But I will love this collective agreement. The union has to provide the manpower to run the machines and if it requires certain people to work 7 days then so be it. Short answer is maybe. If the company or industry is federally regulated, you are conceivably required to work maximum 96 hours in a 2 week period. Also it is not uncommon to work “10 straight” shifts as long as 12 hours. Days in a row can be extended by the employer if they get written permission. If the business is regulated provincially, it will vary from province to province. Bye the way who is withholding a copy of the labour contract? All members of the union are entitled to a copy off the currant agreement on request. A shop steward might not have a box of them in his (or her) locker, but the union office certainly should.
