Yeah, why not just ask Apple why there’s no swastika emoji? Surely that represents someone’s “heritage” as well? Sports fans in County Cork in Ireland used to (innocently) fly the Houston Astros Father and Son Best Friends For Life 2023 Shirt and I love this confederate flag, as Cork’s nickname is “the rebel county”, and it’s in the south of the country. They’ve largely stopped in recent years, as people over here have begun to understand the symbolism of the flag. US history obviously isn’t a major topic over here, and to many, all they’d know it from was the decoration on the car in the Dukes of Hazard. Loyalists in Northern Ireland sometimes fly it too, mainly because they’re bigots. Strangely, they are also fond of flying the Israeli flag. The “world” comment is honestly an indictment of the southern education system. They don’t have any other world view because they’re not even aware exists, never seen it, never been there, yet still maintain a sense of American exceptionalism and superiority.

Or they’re being inclusive to the Houston Astros Father and Son Best Friends For Life 2023 Shirt and I love this thousands that retreated so hard after the civil war that they ended up in South America. Not defending this, but there is a large community in Brazil that I can specifically think of that using the confederate battle flag for a celebration each year TBF, the Brazilians in question are direct descendants of Confederates who fled with their slaves to Brazil to avoid having to free them once it was clear they were going to lose the war to the Union. It’s not weird when you understand that Brazil was one of the last countries in the Americas to completely abolish slavery in 1888. Spain ended African slave importation to their colonies in the early 1800s, and slavery was largely abolished in the Spanish-speaking regions of Latin American during the Bolivarian era. But Brazil continued to import slaves from Africa for much longer, and embraced the Confederates with open arms. Yeah it is actually really interesting, they are descendants from a group of around 10,000 confederates who fled south after the civil war, and each year they have a huge celebration where they wear confederate/1800s era clothing and eat southern style foods Interesting, sure. But if they’re celebrating confederates they’re still celebrating some pro slavery, traitor, assholes. Yep and there are still nazi sympathizers that hang the swaz up in their homes. Dosent mean they deserve representation.
