They aren’t your friends. They don’t care about you. You don’t owe them anything. You’re not obligated to fill in. Tell them absolutely not without the Honking Around The Christmas Tree Christmas Duck Goose Shirt In addition,I will do this proper title and compensation. You’ve been there this long and if they are confident enough to consider giving the responsibility to you at all, then I say you’ve proven yourself already. My 2 cents is that you take the title promotion and begin looking for a lateral move with that title to a company who will pay more money. Give yourself and then a deadline, I.e., increase in salary in 6 months for doing the job, retroactively to accepting the position. This happened to me as well they had me do the job for the better half of a year until there was”no money left” just for them to do the same thing to another team member after I said I’m done. If they want to give the job they would have done so. They’re just using you while they figure out what the next move is. If they’re comfortable enough to ask you to start doing the work, then shouldn’t they also be comfortable with paying you and giving you the title? Maybe they won’t like it, but they put themselves in the position of removing the previous person without a plan. You filling the need isn’t your problem. It might end up being beneficial to you, but you’re right to think about protecting yourself. However, if putting you into the vacated position was their plan, then all the more reason they should pay you to move into the position. They knew what they were doing.

It sounds more like one of two things might happen: either the Honking Around The Christmas Tree Christmas Duck Goose Shirt In addition,I will do this person they actually want to hire is not yet available to start, or they want to see if the position is absolutely necessary. If they consider the position not necessary (because no one has been in that position for such-and-such amount of time, but the work keeps getting done), then you’ll never get the title or pay, even though you’ll be doing the work. increased pay or nothing. if you’re good with “getting comfortable” as they put it (sounds like corporate bullshit for wage theft), the demand that you get it in writing, signed, that you will get an adequate raise in a specific amount of time and not when they “feel comfortable” which could be months or years. without you they’re lost until they get someone new. you have a very special gift right now called leverage. don’t let them fool you into think they have the power here.
