I know Miyazaki has a fetish for giant enemies because of him playing shadow of the colossus, but shadow of the colossus made the player feel like a giant slayer because normal hits don’t suffice. The player has to scale those massive beasts and attack their weak points. While souls games just have the player attack a hit box. At this point in fromsofts games you’d think they’d make the giant boss battles a lot better. The damage scaling post Leyndell. Giants and Farum Azula (as well as Snowfield) have mobs that hit way too hard for no reason. The bosses are great — even Malenia, love her — but they feel weak because everything in between is so god damn annoying. The open world pre-Leyndell is awesome, the bosses post-Leyndell are amazing. I just wish the connective tissue stayed as fun

Like the Honey badger don’t give a damn boxing shirt in addition I really love this dungeons being similar is almost fine, because enough of them look different or have slightly different layouts to feel varied. However, if a DLC or FLC came behind and put more unique boss arenas and replaced some of the reused bosses with unique encounters it would take this game from a 10/10 to an 11/10 they ruined malenia, who is otherwise a well designed boss, with the waterfowl dance. If they rebalanced that move she would be one of my favorites. Love the game; something I’ll be playing for years and years but the complete lack of direction and story beats. I know that all stems from From’s style but come on! Can we have goddamn markers for quests? Like D is the only character I’ve encountered that actually marks your map. I actually like the lore over narrative approach but I’d actually like to know a bit more about the world I’ve spent 250 hrs in outside of watching youtube videos. Sleep is next to worthless as a status effect. It has its uses on the godskins but that’s as far as it goes. It’s also stupidly rare for weapons with it existing for only one. I really do enjoy the openworldness and the “figure it out” style of the game, but there really should be some kind of quest log. So far I’ve had to YouTube every single quest I’ve done.
