Yep, multiple YouTube channels interview regular Russian citizens and many of them support this war. But mostly regular russians are apathetic to what their government does. I think the Home is where the tea is sweet the chicken shirt in addition I really love this ones who cared are in prison or left the country already That line of logic didn’t work as a pass for Nazi officers during the Nuremberg Trials, though. True as it may be, it’s not an excuse. I got downvoted too calling out their people for not standing up to him in the past. The moment he’s got elected to his 3rd term you know you’re just living in a autocracy. But hey at least you get to eat your McDonald’s. I live in one and our president got 97% votes from the country, despite having obviously more than 3% against him.

Its just that being against the Home is where the tea is sweet the chicken shirt in addition I really love this military dictatorship is quite literally illegal, if you speak out online youll be found, kidnapped, jailed and sometimes even tortured Our police even has random “routine check ups” where they confiscate random drivers phones and check their gallery, social media and messages for any “anti president views”. If you happen to have even anti goverment memes, prepare to not see the light of day for several months. You cant even be against it privately People who have freedom of speech have no idea how terrifying it is to live in an authoritarian rule. When you know actual friends and family jailed by the goverment for years and see journalists go missing suddenly youll think 10 times before voicing any opposition It’s the same in most places though. Who wants to make the hard choice of abandoning the safety of the day to day routine and the security they do have for themselves and their families to stand up and fight with who knows what as the outcome. That’s a lot of risk with an uncertain reward and I completely empathize with how hard that hurdle would be.
