Over the Hockey Because Murder IS Wrong Cat Shirt moreover I love this past several years, Poland’s conservative Law and Justice Party (PiS) has introduced increasingly draconian restrictions on abortion access in the country. In 2016, a proposal was introduced that would ban nearly all abortions except those necessary to save a woman’s life. The citizens of Poland took to the streets, and the protests had a dramatic impact: The the PiS, which had previously championed the bill, voted the legislation down.

But the Hockey Because Murder IS Wrong Cat Shirt moreover I love this move was temporarily. Later that year, PiS attempted another near-total ban on abortion by making it illegal even in the case of serious fetal abnormalities. (Out of 1,100 abortions that officially took place last year in Poland, 1,074 were the result of fetal abnormalities.) The ruling provoked more protests, and on October 3, 2016, citizens took to the streets again for protests organized by Strajk Kobiet, which had adopted a red lightning bolt as its symbol. The event became known around the world as Black Monday.
