If they want to go too, then do that. You can start with close by places. Canada is a big country. See the other coast to get your feet wet. Visit a friend you haven’t seen in forever. Go somewhere for just a 4 day weekend. Once you start, it’ll be easier to do more. My husband never traveled before meeting me. I got him to start just by making firm plans and giving him the option to join or not. I used do some solo travel with the kids. My husband would always get fomo. Nowadays, he rarely misses trips unless he absolutely cannot take time off work.

Travelled all over Europe and parts of Africa by myself or with travel buddies I knew through other avenues (often times, local travel groups would have mixers and I found a few travel buddies that way). Staying in hostels can be a great way to meet people to have a meal or two with so you don’t get lonely being away from your home friends and family. Also, sometimes people will surprise you if you put on your social media that you are looking for a travel buddy for a place and dates – I ended up having an amazing trip to Budapest with a girl I went to high school with but we had never been tight in school. Trust your gut with people and always have your own way to get there and back again, but there are probably people just outside of your normal friend circle who would be good travel buddies.

I started my travel by visiting family in other cities. That gave me experience to travel alone but then meet up with a familiar face once I reached my destination. Small group tours are great, they help build confidence as you are solo, but with others. Once you do a couple you realize how safe and easy it can be to travel solo My cousin did not like to travel at all.
