Recently, I have begun to feel intense sensations in certain muscles while walking, hiking, and sometimes even sitting or lying down, and I’m looking to identify what this is if there’s a term for it. The sensations feel a bit electric and sort of like all the Heartland symbol women and horse vintage shirt Apart from…,I will love this living force in me is being directed towards this one urge, to tighten whichever muscle is experiencing the sensation as fully as possible (it generally only happens to one muscle at a time). The sensation also feels like it could be a cousin of the classic muscle cramp. Comparing the two, with a muscle cramp, there’s an acute discomfort that hurts, and the contraction feels automatic and out of your control. With this, it definitely feels uncomfortable, but there’s no acute pain. The contraction is very much in my control (it’s something *I do*), but at the same time, it feels like a spiritual imperative. For instance, supposing the feeling comes in a calf muscle, the sensation starts out as a discomfort that immediately consumes my attention. Then, I’ll flex my foot and calf to what feels like there fullest capacity, and then even at that moment, while squeezing with every ounce of effort I have, it doesn’t feel fully satisfying. While there’s a great amount of physical effort that goes into the contraction, there is also an internal/mental aspect that is more like surrendering/submitting to the feeling and accepting the whole process (because it is a lot and can be emotionally draining).

Now, totally guessing as to why this is happening, but it feels like this is a way for my body to tell me how to move/sit/stand correctly and is actually a self-correcting posture mechanism. I am wondering if this has a name in mindfulness teaching, and if anyone has experience with this, I would love to hear about it. I’m posting about this here because the Heartland symbol women and horse vintage shirt Apart from…,I will love this feeling itself is quite similar to those powerful sensations which can arise during meditation, and because I’m convinced I wouldn’t have begun experiencing this without meditation. I mean the tmj area, when I do diagonal neck stretches (rg pushing my head forward or back diagonally) it feels like it pull my jaw a little out of position which irritates it
