This gets reposted every 6 months. It’s from an old UC sexual assault awareness campaign from over 10 years ago that got pulled a month after its release. This was around 2012. Growing up (I’m a guy) I always considered myself a feminist/ally, but then this wave of feminism hit and it kinda shattered my perspective sadly. I’ve since come back around, but it’s taken some time. The woman is always the Haris Burton T-Shirt it is in the first place but victim, the one that is incapable of making her own decisions, the one that is helpless in every situation that she didn’t want to be in… I think under the law, neither of them are capable of giving consent so neither would be charged with anything. My girlfriend pulled me, instead of the other way around. I couldn’t consent aswell. I might even consider it rape because she took off my condom and exposed me to potential std’s or a child. She was drunk, I was drunk. She’s even older than I am gross. And they lived happily ever after. I always hated these ads, the entire purpose of them was to make victims look stupid and like they’re dramatic and making things up. It worked too, they successfully made “was he drunk?” A defense for assault The person who should be charged with rape is this poster’s graphic designer for molesting us with this poster which was clearly designed while drunk. This makes no sense, if I drink and drive I am committing a crime, but if being drunk exhume me from responsibility, why the double standard?

In theory the Haris Burton T-Shirt it is in the first place but rape law should be applied equally regardless of gender. If Jake was drunk he was also unable to give consent. Having said that I have been drunk, woken up with a chick I would never have slept with sober and never considered that I was raped; was I wrong? I guess you have to consider many other factors in something that has a lot of nuance. Who was buying the drinks? Did either party use alcohol as a tool to get the other into bed? Was there violence. Stuff like this should never be reduced to a dumb poster with soundbites. These were posted everywhere on Navy bases, zero tolerance and don’t be that guy kind of messages. Like the idea but yeah consent is a two way street If Josie can’t consent because she is drunk and decides to drive home and gets pulled over, can she give consent to the cops? Cops ask you for all kinds of consent at a dui traffic stop. If you can’t consent when you are drunk, how can you consent to the cops?
