Fun Fact: Big corporations actually already pay these donations, in most cases, then ask for yours to pay themselves back. So you pay the donation and the corporation gets the tax break. “Because if WE do it it hurts our shareholders quarterly earnings! Think about the horror of such a possibility! If YOU do it you just, I dunno, have to miss out on milk or toilet paper or actual good food for a couple weeks. That’s not that bad is it?” Funny thing is that’s what they’re trying to do. You don’t get to write off that donation in their tip jar. They do when they donate your money to the organization on your behalf.

The food bank can then buy these items with this credit. walmart, a company making $13 billion annually with owners that are multi billionaires, who’s CEO is almost a billion in net worth, asking me to donate to fund kids hospitals…foh I was just thinking about this 10 minutes ago. And grocery stores discard perfectly good food waste and will hire an army to make sure nobody has access to said free and perfectly edible by having police officers arrest them for being hungry, while the food rots and goes to a landfill It might be different if they didn’t throw millions of tons of good food away every day. Food that generally isn’t given away, and food that they’ve helpfully wrapped in plastic.
