And I’m not trying to vilify Democrats here, Republicans are even worse with this kind of posturing. I think they need to end the Happy easter Biden 4th of July shirt in other words I will buy this filibuster, and bring it to vote, and if it fails let those who voted against it suffer the consequences next election cycle. New justices don’t have a say for cases they were not seated to hear. The judgements on those cases are not invalidated because new justices were confirmed in the deliberation period. So unless their plan is to pack the court with at least two more liberal judges including the confirmation hearings which you can bet Republicans with the help of Manchin will find a way to delay, then engineer a way to force the SCOTUS to hear a case concerning Roe v. Wade, then issue a judgement going their way, and all before November… I think this is a bunch of hogwash.

The next time republicans have House/Senate/White House, they’re going to end the Happy easter Biden 4th of July shirt in other words I will buy this filibuster for a federal abortion ban. Sure but it’s a long story, Under Bush the democrats were losing judges so Schumer decided that moving forward he was going to try and force republicans to appoint democrat judges via all manners of actions some legal and some incredibly dubious (BK wasn’t the first Republican nominee to get the surprise rape allegation) so ten of these go by and Obama is now President and the Republicans then play similar hardball because at the time then senator Obama had been for this system of screwing around with appointments, and Biden was bragging about finding more allegations for any republicans nominees. So Harry Reid in his infinite wisdom then decided to block tabling discussions of lower appointees if they could succor the votes beforehand thus bypassing it. This was known colloquially as the “Nuclear Option.”
