So where do Coke’s opinions fall in line with the Happy 4th Of July Snoopy shirt it is in the first place but “traditions” of the US when our entire country was based on “self-rule” NOT on English law or opinions. Also, abortion was legal in the British colonies before the quickening. Coke’s opinion doesn’t even align with the reality of colonial america. And US law is based on English common law. Common Law regularly looks into the past (precedent) as guidance when writing or interpreting laws. Roe v. Wade analysed abortion rights in the Roman Empire for example. Technically, a) we had a war because King George preferred passing laws without allowing us to have representation in Parliament, and we reached a breaking point, and b) our law system is classified as a common law system, and we carried a large body of precedence over from colonial times, so in some sense its not wholly unreasonable to cite English common law. Certainly is ‘fascinating’ that he has to reach that far back to try and make his point, as if that’s his best option or something.

“The constitution specifically excludes the Happy 4th Of July Snoopy shirt it is in the first place but unborn from having rights under the very 14th Amendment that Alito dissects as the basis for the conservative majority’s opinion.” “That opening paragraph specifically applies to women as a subset of all people who qualify as having been born — and it specifically does not apply to those who have not yet been born.” Ah yes, quoting Sir Edward Coke, a man who sentenced women for witchcraft and determined that women were the property of their husbands. Also, it’s absolutely fantastic that our entire country’s laws are determined based on the opinion of a few men from a time when women had no rights, slavery was legal, modern abortion and modern medicine didn’t exist, and only landowners got to vote.
