But men have only been progressing societies on the Happy 100 Days Of School Books Teachers T-Shirt in addition I really love this backs of women labour that’s never accredited or valued. Really don’t agree with you on this. The only reason men have been so crucial I. The progression of society is because we made sure women have 0 chance to As far as I understand it all tracks back to the emergence of private property in the early days of agriculture and the societal enforcement of monogamy and/or polygamy . Before that all things, livestock and land were communally owned and passed along within the community. But the advent of private property meant that these things, especially land, needed to be inherited by their direct descendants, this essentially (is the theory) motivated men to start societally enforcing fidelity in women so that they could be sure who has inheritence rights to their land. Which over time essentially led to a patrilineal inheritence system of land (and a reduction in the agency of women) , and therefore also familial lines, cause before modern times family and land were usually quite tied together. I don’t see how this gets to the crux of the matter, though. Yes we know that most societies after the advent of agriculture promote monogamy, especially in women, and that this helps ensure patrilineal inheritance. But OP’s question is why they’ve tended to go down that route instead of inheriting down the matrilineal line, when the former requires strict enforcement and still doesn’t provide guarantees, while the latter intrinsically does.

I suppose the Happy 100 Days Of School Books Teachers T-Shirt in addition I really love this answer probably lies in patriarchal structures putting men ”in charge”, so that women inheriting women wouldn’t be sustainable or considered desirable by the people enforcing the norms? I’m not sure it’s possible to get to an answer with any semblance of certainty. The answer is because men are physically capable of seizing societal power from women, and women are not physically capable of seizing it back. Most people will seize power is given the opportunity. The whole reason why men in the modern day are supportive of women’s rights is because we’re living in a time in which the law has made it impossible for men to physically seize power from women. If the current social order were to collapse, most if not all men would revert to physically seizing power from women.
