Luckily for us, our residential complex has 24/7 diesel powered backup generators for such events so we’ve had unhindered supply of power, although the per unit charges for back up generators are 4x that of normal power supply. The power situation has been back to normal for the past couple of days though. Just happy we have this facility available to us. By no means am I comparing my experience to Indias. I work in the oil industry in West Texas and have had to rig up a job in Pecos, Texas when it was 115°F many times (swinging a sledgehammer/carry heavy iron) It is nearly impossible to stay hydrated, your long sleeve shirt and jeans feel like sandpaper, and add wearing a hard hat to the equation is insane. I chose to work in those conditions and had prepared as much as possible for it. Even getting too hot, you could still go sit in your truck for a while and cool off. Not being able to have air conditioning after being in that is unimaginable. I wouldn’t have been able to do it. The only thing to look forward to at the end of the day was the drive after work in the a/c and a cold shower at the hotel. 120°F without electricity…. is such an impossibly dangerous situation. I can’t even imagine. My heart/prayers goes out to them.
