[edit: if youre downvoting maybe stop to think why youre arguing about if they should be allowed to vote or not rather than rah rah over what president you want to throw paper towels at them the Gwar Battle Maximus shirt in contrast I will get this next time they have an environmental catasrophe. youre an empire, get over it] I don’t know why anyone is surprised by this. On the mainland U.S., many people from different walks of life are treated badly for one reason or another related to discrimination. It’s not only people from PR or who have a Hispanic background. It’s not only related to ethnicity. Discrimination against traditionally discriminated groups on a mass level happens daily because of habitual biases that U.S. culture and society do little to correct. In fact, many of these biases and the related discrimination are perpetually promoted in advertising, on social media and by news agencies and politicians. For example, you can be simply a certain gender and look externally a certain way, and a large portion of society think all the wrong things about you, which then prompts adverse travel and other experiences. Women, for example, are also treated like second-class citizens. You can have no family or strong social support. You can have a speech impediment or a stutter. You can have a cane or a wheelchair when younger than expected. You can be male, healthy and homeless. You can be a veteran. You can be financially struggling when it’s not expected of your gender, age group or even of someone with your level of supposed intelligence. Any of these things, and, sadly, so many more, become instant marks against the person and brings out prejudices, negative societal beliefs, etc. in other people.

Idiots in the Gwar Battle Maximus shirt in contrast I will get this US treat the people of Puerto Rico like they treat Mexicans, because they are so stupid they think all brown people live in the same country. I mean they are, they have no representation in Congress or the senate just like Washington DC even though they pay federal taxes. I consider that second class as fuck. No taxation without representation? Yeah, that’s some bullshit rich white men thought up to get the poor to fight for them and their “freedom”, yeah the freedom to keep more of their profits from slavery. Only reason Puerto Rico and other US territories aren’t able to to have representation it to maintain the status quo, where these giant empty states wield more power than they deserve to have. Actually, your average person that lives and works (for someone other than the government) in PR does NOT pay federal income taxes.
