If you believe that religion being a widespread tool that can do good, despite needing just a few bad guys to make it harmful, and that we should keep it around, I’d like your take on gun control. He means that people deriding religion have only a surface-level understanding of it. Funny thing is, he literally is only operating on the Guns N’ Roses Appetite For Destruction White Slim shirt and I love this surface level in his comment, so he set that as the playing field. If he’d said anything actually specific, people would have probably responded with obscure history and influential, yet all-but-forgotten events that shaped how we view things today. You know, discourse. NO okay because I saw this on a religious meme page on facebook (everybody in my circle uses it) and I commented “see what I mean”, expecting people will jump in and start a comment chain (obviously I didn’t think about the fact that it’s not reddit), but then religious people started agreeing with me and I’m like “oh no” I meant it sarcastically but okay I won’t stir this pot. Either ways, I’ll pray for you. Not out of disrespect or anything, and not for your conversion, as I myself had my time in atheism. I’ll pray for your well-being, and I’ll pray so that people respect your decision. Truly (at least in Christianity) we are in a religion which main idea is to serve others and be kind to others, and at times that’s the least we do.

My take on religion is that some people are spiritually lost, but have so little emotional intelligence and are incredibly old fashioned, so they’ll never accept that they are the Guns N’ Roses Appetite For Destruction White Slim shirt and I love this problem, and instead of looking inward for answers, because that’s scary and challenges their works view, they prefer to look outward and into abstract themes to seek those answers. In short, they need to go to a psychologist, but will never accept that, so religion is as good as it’s gonna get. And yet, without religion, these people would have nowhere else to turn to, and it promotes the concept of community amongst members of the same religion, so it can do a lot of good to those who need it. I don’t worship vengeful gods. If I can deal with my emotions and not take them out on other people, sure as shit I’m not going to follow a god that is less emotionally mature than me.
