They pick a spineless, “both sides good”, career politician and make a bunch of promises they can’t keep. If we had a younger, more attractive, more engaged candidate in 2016 then we weren’t in this shitshow to begin with. We had that. I think it’s harder than you imagine to run a nationwide campaign and unite the interests groups across the center left spectrum. My personal feeling is the left projects magical thinking onto a system that is designed to be more balanced and that’s seems unappealing/unacceptable to them/you. The country is really much more centrist than you imagine and change happens slowly but it does happen and it’s good for the center left to be pushed but there are practical limitations.
