And now, all of a sudden, when their ox is gored, they have the nerve to complain? Stuff it. And here’s a brilliant idea. Take away the jurisdiction of the Courts to deal with issues about abortion. When to get your way requires ignoring not one but two election results plus telling one of the three branches of government to butt out, you sure are demonstrating your commitment to representative democracy, there, guys. But here’s a little nugget for you to consider. The right of the Courts to decide whether government actions are constitutional is not actually written in the United States constitution. Nevertheless, the Supreme Court of the United States held early along that it did, in fact, have the power to,declare laws unconstitutional. The whole concept of separation of powers and of checks and balances just doesn’t work without the courts having that power. It is so fundamental to our form of government that it didn’t even need to be expressly written into the constitution; that power is just inherent in the overall scheme the founders created.
