I don’t think they have the Grinch and Jack Skellington Walmart Hallo Thanks Mas shirt and by the same token and ability to lower the price to the same degree as Tesla ($600 billion valuation), Vinfast (not IPO yet, but I guess around $2-10 billion at max). As you can see, you have been mistaken about the full-price and subscription model, this is a result of failed marketing and prejudice towards the model. If we read the terms carefully, this actually benefits the customers by accepting installment buying with 60-80% cost upfront, followed by a scheduled installment payment in 8 years with a low-interest rate. There was no “reduced” price in the US. Vinfast can claim it is reduced price but if it’s actually reduced or not depends on how it is priced compared to competitors. And as I showed you, it is priced the same price as a model Y except the model y includes battery and Vinfast makes you pay for it. If I’m not mistaken, you have 2 options, one is full price with battery included of around 57k for the Plus version (the Eco is cheaper, around 50k I think). Second option is paying upfront 47k, the rest of 10k will be your subscription fee in 8 years. It means 47k is the cost upfront when you buy the car, then the 10k is the installment payment in 8 years.

For model Y, as I stated above, with the Grinch and Jack Skellington Walmart Hallo Thanks Mas shirt and by the same token and discount from Tesla, it is way more appealing than the VF8 (the model Y was 62k before 2023) Therefore that 47k + $10k doesn’t make sense – they just tried to scam $10k from customers by making it a ‘lease’ and pretending to tout that as a benefit because it would be replaced if the battery went below 80%. Well in California, the warranty is by law 10 years and they would have to replace it below a similar percentage anyway. Therefore their touted ‘benefit’ is not really a benefit at all, especially when they ended up scrapping that option and pricing the car with battery at the same price. Therefore i dont see that 60-80% upfront benefit that you’re talking about. The lease was literally 100% + 20% later, not 60-80% + 40-20% later. And for any business, customers dont really care why you can’t match the competitor on price or quality. If its not better in price or better in quality (or exclusivity) then you’re going to have a hard time. Which is why Vinfast has been a failure in the US and IMO this reflects the arrogance of businesses in Vietnam – they all think they do something better than the west because they are the market leader in Vietnam. But the fact is, Vietnam is a small market that does not demand companies to perform at their best to succeed. Succeeding in vietnam as little bearing on your success in international markets, as Vinfast has found out the hard way. The 57k is assumed based on your information of the battery model (you said 47k, and 110 per month for 8 years). Also, your 57k is the old price, they did reduced the VF8’s price after Tesla and other companies lowering their price.
