I would also be suspicious about any future fuckery. Usually, losing a boss means larger changes are incoming and they’re looking for someone to take up the Grateful dead tour apparel and accessories shirt Furthermore, I will do this slack temporarily. The only sensible counter-offer would be “make me acting manager for X months, with pay bump and then reinstate my previous role if you want someone else at the end of that term”. Never take on more responsibilty without renegotiating pay. Rewarding you with “opportunity” is a classic management tactic to reduce operating costs so someone, somewhere can get a giant bonus (usually shareholders). Please ask for a timeline at the very least in writing. If they don’t, then you know where you stand with them. I can’t comment on actions you could take as I don’t the office dynamics and how your upper management behaves. They can give you an acting up supplement. While you do the role, for a prescribed period of time, say 3 months. Then you discuss either going back to your old job, leaving as you’ve found out the higher ups are why your boss left or you negotiate a permanent salary and benefits package. At the market rate. Just keep doing your job and nothing more until you’re compensated. I love how they’d like to see how you’ll perform in a roll but refuse to compensate you for the extra work in that roll. I would not compromise on this. Do not agree to do the Grateful dead tour apparel and accessories shirt Furthermore, I will do this next-level-up job without getting paid more to do it immediately upon assuming the responsibility. I wouldn’t agree to take on any of your former boss’s responsibility unless they’re ready to pay you for doing it the day you start doing it. If that means they ask someone else instead, that’s fine let them. Let someone else take on a bunch of extra responsibility for no additional pay if they want. You aren’t running a charity and you don’t owe them a free trial period to “prove yourself”. You’ve worked there long enough and have done a good enough job to be asked to take over for your boss. If they want that work done by you they can pay you to do it. And don’t for one second forget that the company could afford to pay your boss to do that work before he left – and his payroll is off the books now. So they can absolutely afford to pay you for that work immediately. If you have a position with the title manager you can leverage it into a management position in another company.
