Unfortunately, my grandpa is nearly completely deaf so it’s hard to communicate with him and when he tries to tell me about war, my grandmother starts complaining lol. I only know bits and pieces of his stories and I probably won’t ever know as much as I would want him to tell me. Shit, dude, get some time alone with him. Write down his stories, if he’s alright with Some Grandmas Play Bingo Real Grandmas Listen To Elvis shirt. Let the firsthand accounts live on. We can never have enough of them. Last time I went I recorded him telling me about how he smoked his first cigarette – rolled in newspaper – and his little sister was blackmailing him about it, how he met my grandma and that he was a delivery boy during war and when the war was over, he was worried about not having a job.

Well, this was nearly 22 years ago. Seriously. I wish I had recorded my father’s stories from when he was in the service. In his voice would have been an awesome keepsake. I love it! I did but grandpa just shuts himself when his wife makes the face.
