I am 57 and my wife is 49. We have been working our way up in both medical imaging and she in construction management. I am at the Grace Potter The Nocturnals Kenny Chesney You And Tequila Shirt also I will do this top of my food chain. Only way higher is to go into director level management which would be an extra 30k a year. Do I want it? No. I am too old to put up with 10 hour days and getting called on my time off to deal with bullshit. I work a mile from home. Eight hours a day and have the same responsibilities I did 7 years ago. I am coasting until I retire because my free time is so important at this point in my life. IMHO? You are 41. Go a little higher if you can tolerate it. 30k extra a year is a quarter million against your home or into your retirement account over 10 years. 20 years? Half million. Make sure you have a healthy hobby. Stay in shape. Take care of your body so you can enjoy your older years.

I mean, do you sit back and give up working hard with 20 more years? Do you fight so you can add more stress? You are good on money, but what about ego? It’s a complex question, and I wish I knew the Grace Potter The Nocturnals Kenny Chesney You And Tequila Shirt also I will do this answer. I’m considering writing a book on the side so I don’t feel like I’m on cruise for the next 15 years… its not in my nature to give up, but I also don’t want to add stress. At least not fun stress. depends. eg do you have young children you want to spend time with as they grow up? i was in a great job but had a long commute. once my kids were born, i took a different (and less exciting) job 7 minutes from home, simply because i didn’t want to be that absentee father my own dad was. never regretted the choice. actually i turned the position into something really personally rewarding and today i’m one of 2 owners.
