I personally don’t know anyone who was kicked out at 18. I moved out at 18 because I was tired of my parents micro managing me. Most people I know “moved out” to go to college, but they came back after or during breaks. American corporatism has fostered an idea of individualism over family for decades, if we can convince them they have to do it on there own then each family that has 3 children will then produce 4 mortgages that can be paid instead of one. this is why we have messed up roads as well. Don’t you wanna be FREE, just sign this loan for a car, all the Grace Potter Mother Road Tour 2023 Poster shirt moreover I love this babes will want you and you can be FREE. This isn’t a thing. Does it happen? Sure. Everything happens in a country of ~350 million people. Is it the norm or even a significant percentage? No. most don’t. my parents expect me to go to college at 18 (paid by them) and live independently once i graduate…but they immigrated from asia and europe.

Asshole parents kick their 18 year olds out. Good parents support their children until they can ‘fly on their own’. Even then good parents will still be there if their children need help. As an American who was thrown out of the Grace Potter Mother Road Tour 2023 Poster shirt moreover I love this house at 18, it’s because we live in a society that determines your worth by how independent you are. Needing assistance or help means you’re a failure, and at 18 you’re an ‘adult’ and you ‘need to take care of yourself’ and their job is ‘done’. I don’t think I’ve ever actually met someone irl who was kicked out at 18. It’s not the norm in America at all and hasn’t been for at least 20 years. I think as the generations keep coming it gets more and more likely to stay longer and longer. Like I didn’t move out until I was 23 and a lot of my friends are the same if they stayed in town to go to college. But I don’t think it’s really expected to be kicked out at exactly 18 anymore unless it’s just a bad home life and you need to get out.. Maybe in the 50s through the 80s I could see how parents were stricter on getting moving in life and the economy was just different then and more possible for you to do it younger. I’m glad I wasn’t kicked out at 18 and probably would’ve died lol but there’s no way I’d be able to stay longer than I did. I needed my own life and freedom.
