Is it just me, or does it feel like so much of millennial culture is just how to be poor? Van living, $100 a month grocery hauls, minimalism…that’s just poverty, but fancy. ^ solid point. Here’s the Gonzaga Basketball Champions 2022 Zags Got Champs Bulldogs Essential T-Shirt moreover I love this problem: if you’re as smart as the average person, it means half the population aren’t gonna understand that connection I can tell you that at least 50% of Walmart employees receive some sort of public assistance. Some stores even help their employees to get that assistance. Average rent for a 1 bedroom apartment where I live is $1,425. Minimum wage is $7.25. So I could work full time and still not be able to afford a 1 bedroom apartment, let alone food. Get with the program. Pretty sure if they have a full time job at minimum wage 10$ an hour they would make too much in a month to have or get food stamps at all A 1 bedroom apartment average near me is $1,425. If I made $10 an hour (min wage is 7.25) I would make 1600 a month before taxes and fees. How tf would I be paying for food in this scenario? Gas? Medical care? It’s not feasible without outside support, theft, or going massively into debt. Have some empathy I’m on minimum wage in FL is 10$ now and work 12 hours a week at a work rehabilitation place, I get SSI and SSDI, and only get 29$ EBT(food stamps) once a month, I barely make it through, usually with no spending money, and take public transit or walk everywhere, so don’t tell me to have compassion or some shit, I’m saying there is noone on a full time job that gets food stamps at all unless maybe their an illegal getting paid under the table or they have like 10+ dependents Or the politicians taxing them out the ass are? Frankly there are a lot of folks that could be leeching them. Including themselves.

I’m in the Gonzaga Basketball Champions 2022 Zags Got Champs Bulldogs Essential T-Shirt moreover I love this military and my families on WIC. I wouldn’t mind that things are so expensive if I got paid to compensate the actual cost of living. Being overseas though it’s funny because I do get COLA but I don’t understand how inflation has risen both in the US and Europe by over 7% and yet they just decided to cut our COLA by half. That doesn’t make sense to me. I was an E-5 when my first child was born (2011) and we qualified for WIC too. And I think we were barely above the threshold for SNAP. It’s the property owners. The car manufacturers. THE INSURANCE COMPANIES. The internet services. The cell services. The computer obsolescence. The tickets and court fees and theft and trouble associated with being unserved. Honestly, employers are almost the last line of blame. Interesting. Today I learned of the RMP – Restaurant Meal Program that allowed SNAP users who are over 60, homeless, or disabled to use SNAP benefits to purchase meals at certain restaurants in Califormia, Virginia, Rhode Island, Arizona, Maryland, and Michigan.
