It helps a lot that I have savings/inheritance, I’d survive without but it helps take the God Says I Am 100 Days Of School Christ Bible Saying Graphic T-Shirt in other words I will buy this pressure off that I can afford some emergencies or luxuries Earning £30k (~£2.2k per month) atm. £1k rent per month to live in St. John’s Wood with two friends. I manage to save £200 per month by living quite carefully. It is definitely doable, however not a day goes by when I don’t stress a little (there’s always another bill to pay!) and I almost never buy anything for myself. I don’t go on holiday, like ever. My rent is partially subsidised by a friend who earns wayyyy more than me, it’s very kind of her. We live in Zone 3. I can’t afford to take the train to work, I take the bus most everywhere. I buy everything second hand and never eat out. My biggest treat to myself is a Saturday morning spent charity shopping. All of my hair and beauty treatments come from using Class Pass that my work sponsors. I don’t use any subscription based services other than spotify. I sometimes work late so that my work has to shell out for dinner for me. I allow myself one takeaway a month on payday. I have £15 budget a day. It’s not great but it’s doable, and honestly, I’m fine. Like I said, not ideal, but I am managing. I’m on 32k. Rent is 1300 in bills. I live alone. I cycle everywhere. After everything is paid off, including some basic savings, I have £15 a day

For reference, Mississippi has the God Says I Am 100 Days Of School Christ Bible Saying Graphic T-Shirt in other words I will buy this lowest cost of living in the US at $1900 per month. It also has the lowest standard of living. Depends on where you are on the East Coast. That won’t even pay rent for about 100 miles around NYC. NVM cell phone, insurance, utilities, transportation, food, clothing, etc. Am an hour north of nyc. Very small two bedroom, no utilities included almost 1700. Internet 60, cell phones 120, groceries 800 including pet food, transportation 400, electric 120-240. Not added in clothing, upcoming baby necessities, unexpected costs. I’m an hour east and we’re starting to see studios listed for 1,700…I hope no one takes them, that’s a terrible price. I got incredibly lucky when I signed the lease here in august. A few months after our city declared a housing emergency and studios are going for what we pay, 2 bedrooms over 2k now That depends on a lot of factors. The main one would be where exactly you live/want to live. Then throw in questions like “are you earning to just support yourself or other people too,” “do you have pets,” and “what does ‘comfortable’ mean to you.” Where I live, it would be a challenge to live on that income by myself with no roommates. Not impossible, but certainly not “comfortable.” As a single individual, that’s my budget for rent/housing. If that was all I was making, I’d probably be homeless.
