Its not like am avoiding going home because of this. I posted this just to understand how everyone is dealing with the God is Great Dogs Are Good & People Are Crazy shirt and I will buy this inflation in flight tickets lately and if it affects their annual travel plans That’s the sad part man. I being a localite will probably never fully understand the perspective of not being with family on days like Deepavali but I read this chart which showed people who stay out of their native and how many times they actually do get to spend time with their family. Maybe that’s why but senti answer as well but yeah My take is jobs would shift eventually or new similar paying jobs would be created near home. Many of my friends have left Bangalore permanently, due to this my circle of friends has decreased here. So going home in festivals is a must otherwise I will find it difficult to recharge my batteries. It’s not just friends and family, I like being in my native. So I’ve my priorities sorted, I book way in advance.

Flights are getting costly, so budget takes a hit. But what about slow inflation of say diesel affecting transport and everything you buy? Goes by un-noticed. If you are not getting pay hikes to keep up with inflation, then imagine your savings and investments for when you retire. I book flights as much in advance as I can. Take a few days off/WFH so I can take weekday flights. Book using say HDFC smartbuy to redeem credit card points. See if train travel is viable. See if your job can be relocated to a metro closer to home. Apply for jobs closer to home. Additionally, Do more video calls with home. Ensure than when I’m with family back home, I try not to laze/go out, and spend time with fam.
