I don’t even know if it’s always a man thing. I think, for the Go ahead and destroy the financial district make the people happy shirt but I will buy this shirt and I will love this last 30 years, people have taught their kids to be afraid of all strangers. My sister is an elderly woman, and always said hi to kids throughout her life. But for the last few years, kids have no response, or they hide. Like all fear, no social skills. Kind of sad, life was warmer before. It’s not just a thing they’re taught. A lot of people now have grown up having spent their entire formative years online, and that trend is only increasing. This means they have no in-person social skills and are overwhelmed by what to others seem like basic social interactions. As a tall man I have gotten better at accepting that some people will be afraid of me and to give them as much space as I can and not sweat people’s reactions. I know the feeling when I was 15 I literally had two teens not looking and run straight into me as I was entering the mall as they were exiting. She just looked up and screamed for a few secs.

I’m so sorry that happened to him. I love it when people offer to help or grab it for me. I remember having a conversation with my partner about societal expectations for both genders and how absolutely contradictory they are. It’s crazy how you’re expected to be a gentleman and offer to help sometimes but other times you need to mind your own damn business or be seen as a creeper and you’re expected to know exactly when that is and in what way even though it changes from person to person :8412: I’m sorry society sucks and pushes good people out of being so considerate. I’m sure the older women appreciate you since such kindness seems to be difficult to find these days for these exact reasons. At least for the US, we need new societal expectations for men. We are stuck trying to fulfill both the legacy expectation and an undefined always changing new definition that is a list of don’ts, but no dos.
