The Los Angeles Dodgers have a rich history of walk-off home runs, and on Friday night, they added another one to the list. In the bottom of the ninth inning against the San Diego Padres, Max Muncy hit a grand slam to give the Dodgers a 5-1 victory. It was the first walk-off grand slam for the Dodgers since Kirk Gibson’s iconic homerun in Game 1 of the 1988 World Series.

Gibson’s grand slam was a pivotal moment in Dodgers history, and it helped to propel the team to their first World Series title in 32 years. Muncy’s grand slam was just as important, as it helped the Dodgers to snap a three-game losing streak and move back into first place in the NL West.

The Dodgers have been struggling offensively all season, but they have been able to stay in contention thanks to their strong pitching staff. Julio Urias started on Friday night and allowed just one run over six innings. He struck out eight batters and walked none.

The Dodgers bullpen has also been impressive this season. Kenley Jansen pitched a perfect ninth inning to earn the save on Friday night. Jansen has now converted 18 of 19 save opportunities this season.
