AllSaints, Theory, Max Mara, Vince, Layette 148, Cashmere and Cupcakes, The Loft, Banana Republic, and even Talbot’s have good items. I usually search for material rather than brand name. I look for silk, cotton, linen, cashmere, etc. Los Angeles apparel!!! Their whole business model is unbranded, high quality basics, and all of their clothes are made ethically in LA If your budget is low, get Zara/Mango stuff and take it to a seamstress so that it looks amazing. I cant stand the people who wear those noisy outfits with logos all over them (cough cough christine selling sunset). And dont get me started on the people who wear the fake ones. We really need to stop overpaying for certain brands…esp when the majority all comes from sweatshops for 20 cents a shirt.

Mildly disturbed by the Germany is calling and i must go telephone T-Shirt in contrast I will get this classism in this post and the comments, but also kind of expected for this reddit. Bleaugh. The answer depends entirely on your style and what kind of pieces you’re specifically looking for, because tbh most luxury brands don’t obviously advertise. I’ve heard good things about Iris Von Armin, it’s luxury knitwear and cashmere, so far out of my budget but I’d love to get a cashmere sweater from there My husband got me a bunch of cashmere stuff from Iris Von Armin one Christmas because a friend who is an art dealer in Zurich told him, “it’s what men of taste who appreciate their wives buy them for holidays and birthdays.” I guess I appreciate that my husband values me, and the cashmere is thick and creamy as a slab of butter, but the cuts are so elderly. But not the stylish elderly I see walking around with perfectly coordinated raincoats and umbrellas in Pucci prints with fabulous heeled rainboots and whatnot. More like the style of the grandma with a bad perm, a reindeer sweater and an 18 hour bra that’s been on the job for at least 19 hours and sweatpants worn away at the seat till they’re nearly transparent at the butt . I’m sure both types of grandmas (and others) are probably lovely people and I’m pretty sure they are happy with whatever look they prefer so more power to them. Anyway, it would be one thing if these sweaters I got were boxy or oversized, that I could work with, but they manage to be boxy all over but also form fitting in unexpected places – like the mid point on your arm between your shoulder and elbow, or just in front of your crotch – they’ll place slits at the sides so the cashmere really bunches up right where the sweater suddenly gets clingy so you have this strange situation of cameltoe caused by your sweater (they are all weirdly long too). I’ll slip them on when I’m alone and cold but I won’t look in the mirror.
