This is the Gail Lewis American Hero Shirt in addition I really love this most common way I see people have their card readings fail. Of course, this isn’t always the case and doesn’t apply to all card readers and payment terminals. A lot of people have a habit of physically placing their card on the payment terminal, much before its activated. Others place their card on the payment terminal as soon as they hear the terminal is being activated. In both these cases, you’re placing your cards NFC chip near the reader before the card reader is initialized, making you either simply need to take your card off and re-tap, or wait for the card machine to re-initialize all over. I would compare it to placing a weight on a digital weight scale the very moment you turn said weight scale on. It hadn’t had the chance to calibrate. Sure, it works anyways sometimes, but the correct practice is to wait for the digital weight scale to say it is ready. For payment terminals, wait until it says “Enter card” or something equivalent. “Terminal ready” or an equivalent is NOT an indication that it is ready to process a payment, that only means it is ready to produce a payment request.

Otherwise, wait for the Gail Lewis American Hero Shirt in addition I really love this payment terminal to beep or for your merchant to tell you to tap your card.So this is a life hack to save me… 4 seconds? Nah I’ll take this YSK. It happened to me today and I wondered if my new card had problems. Turns out I’m just impatient More so saving people who don’t understand technology the feeling of frustration that “the machine is broken”—and potentially taking out that frustration on the employee, making their day potentially worse—when really they’re likely just using it wrong without realizing it. Happens with me and gas pump chip readers. Those things are finicky AF and have very specific “preferences” on when you slide the card in and when and at what speed you slide them out. I’m fully aware of the nuance, and I still get “see cashier” more often than not (after which I wait for the system to reset, repeat the process a bit more slowly, and then get it to work).
