Canada once made it illegal to provide health service privately, it was such a cluster that they moved back to a two tiered system. Even so, it is nearly impossible to find family practitioners in B.C., and wait times killing people have become fodder for federal hearings and are constantly election issues. Similarly, spending on the Funny Silly Goose Le Honque French Baguette Shirt it is in the first place but NHS was an issue that drove Brexit. The solution, use free market principles to drive down prices which is the only way to actually provide more healthcare to more people. First allow drug imports. Let pharmacies create their own QA labs for these imports. Secondly, provide for more tax free HSAs, disallow state specific health insurance requirements that drive up the costs and reduce the pools, incentivize those insurance plans to to have high deductibles and lastly incentivize fee for service offerings.

We focus way more on who is pay, than what we are getting for the Funny Silly Goose Le Honque French Baguette Shirt it is in the first place but money spent. We should correct that. Healthcare for all is exactly the wrong approach. Medical tourism, laser eye surgeries and other fee for service offering have much lower rates of inflation, and are constantly providing innovations that improve the product and lower costs. These are two different things! “For free” is how advocates sell every new govt goodie; “paid for by taxes” is more truthful, and allows an honest cost/benefit analysis and realistic policy debate. Bureaucratic, apathetic morass. Lack of a duty of care. That if government controls health, it controls bodies. Being a realm of ideas, a dystopian future of this sort could mean that the government labels people having certain ideas as literally sick, and use health as the ultimate tool of control and repression.
Because nothing is ever free. “Free” healthcare means it is paid by the Funny Silly Goose Le Honque French Baguette Shirt it is in the first place but taxpayers. Our current healthcare spending is absurd due to collusion of big pharma and insurance companies. The amount people would need to be taxed to cover universal healthcare would be insane. Our government is also extraordinarily inefficient, so it is expected that universal healthcare would lead to even further heightened prices and longer wait times. Most taxes are paid by middle class and higher and they are the ones with access to good quality healthcare, they stand to lose out on higher cost for worse service. There was a lot of fear, mongering, and a lot of people have very unrealistic expectations of how good their insurance actually is.

Some information about Funny Silly Goose Le Honque French Baguette Shirt
I’d be very curious what would happen if the Funny Silly Goose Le Honque French Baguette Shirt it is in the first place but US stopped paying top dollar for pharmaceuticals. At the moment we are subsidizing the rest of the world. I pay 14% of my gross income in taxes in the US. Most countries in Europe pay 45-50%. That’s some pretty expensive healthcare. I have a few thoughts on why. First the government is horrible at implementing things. They also overpay and can anytime cut services. Also corruption. I say this as a person who needs health care. Couldn’t leave a job if I wanted too. Don’t know what it will cost after retirement so there is that issue. For me, it’s the fear of waiting forever for an appointment. If I get an aggressive type of cancer, I don’t want to wait a year to see a specialist. If it’s run like the VA system in our country, that’s going to be a hard no for me. Plus, how does it scale? There are 335,000,000 people here spread out over a vast area. Will the best people be willing to spend $1M on an education to be a doctor to be capped on earning potential by the government? IDK??? I’m not opposed but there are a lot of very scary moving parts. Our neighbors to the north in Canada have it and many love it until they are dealing with something serious oh and EVERYTHING is crazy expensive. Nothing is for free and free Healthcare episodes not for free.
One argument is that white people don’t want minorities to have benefits that would help them and make their lives easier even if it means they could benefit from them policy The healthcare in Canada and the Funny Silly Goose Le Honque French Baguette Shirt it is in the first place but UK might be free, but it’s also broken. And isn’t private healthcare banned in Canada? What happens when you have cancer or you think your child has autism, you ask for an appointment, and you get told you have to wait for a year? My mother doesn’t want universal healthcare because she, “doesn’t want to pay for other people.” She likes her insurance. Decades of propaganda funded by insurance companies convinced people that health care is horrible in all the countries with universal/socialized health care. We grew up being told that you had to wait months for any kind of surgery or treatment in those countries, and that their taxes were sky high because of it so they weren’t saving money.
Before the Funny Silly Goose Le Honque French Baguette Shirt it is in the first place but internet, most of us didn’t have an easy way to talk to people from other countries about what their system is like. Now more and more of us are realizing we’ve been lied to. Racism. Some people don’t want their taxes to help certain populations. That’s why go fund me became popular so they can help the “desirables”. When it’s free, you take what they give you. When you buy it you have more power to choose. While for many people it works fine because they can have their diabetes supplies and quick visits to doctors. Some people have more complicated issues that vary from one quack doctor to the next and the patient suffers because the socialized medical practices tend to follow the trend and don’t get outside the box where new innovation solves old problems. Imagine Nuns paying for birth control because that’s what happened when obummercare went live then imagine what else they can force on you. Imagine a billionaire not being able to try new ideas on their dying child sure nobody’s child should die but most don’t have money to throw at experiments and in countries where they have “free healthcare” people were forced to watch their child die because the government wasn’t willing to let someone else waste money on it. Might have solved a problem that would benefit millions but nah the government don’t like it yet because it doesn’t get no kickback
Lines tend to be longer because people don’t think twice about going in even for dumb stuff like I stubbed my toe. I don’t think any American “fears” the Funny Silly Goose Le Honque French Baguette Shirt it is in the first place but concept of free healthcare. It’s so irrational to assume people “fear” things just because they don’t like or support an idea. Lots of misconceptions about it, even from the people here promoting it. Its just another system, with its pros and cons. There are alot of misconceptions out the US system as well. We really don’t have a free market system. More like a corporate/government/insurance Cartel system. For one, the federal government dictates residency slots for Physicians here, so specialties don’t respond to market pressures well. Lots of funny games are played by insurance and hospital companies that hurt patient care and cost, and they can get away with it because there are alot of mechanisms that prevent competition popping up.
I actually have family in Sweden and they like their healthcare. Seems that your country does a decent job at it. From what I here Canada’s system has alot of problems that leaves people mad. I don’t think that helps. Sadly, nobody has faith in these corrupt and/or incompetent politicians. In order to get something passed, there needs to be other sacrifices the Funny Silly Goose Le Honque French Baguette Shirt it is in the first place but Democrats are not willing to make, such as dealing with the illegal immigration problem. Either they need to not be paid for by the state under any circumstances, or they need to be exported. They cannot be protected and paid for, the system is already strained under pressure. Even if the groundwork was laid for a bill to be passed, there is so much corrupt influence in congress that you know all these insurance companies and pharmaceutical companies would get their grubby hands in the way and make it so they will still come out of top at the cost of the average person. I still can’t believe it’s going to come down to Trump vs Biden again… what is wrong with everyone? Republicans (annoyingly) atleast love Trump, but Biden? Is that really the best the party has to offer?
A guy on here posted an interview. Crap it’s been a couple months since I saw it but it basically said: We can’t have free health care because then black and brown people would also get it. It’s another part of the Funny Silly Goose Le Honque French Baguette Shirt it is in the first place but twisted ‘Us vs Them’ mentality in American politics, where some people are less focused on winning and more focused on the other side losing. There is no such thing as free healthcare. Nothing in life is free. Either you pay for it directly, indirectly or you coerce someone else to pay for it. The case against socialized healthcare is the same case for socialized anything. Some people are of the opinion that goods and services should not be distributed equally to all people but rather they should be offered on the free market for fair market value and people should pay for them. Those that work hard and make a lot of money will be rewarded with more access to better things while those that chose not to will suffer the consequences. There are two motivations for this belief, one practical: they think this arrangement will result in cheaper products, cheaper and better services and motivate people to do their best while the other arrangement will make people lazy, entitled and with no competition prices will go up. The other motivation is a more philosophical one. They don’t believe all people are equal and deserving of equal results. Some people are smarter, some people work harder, some people are nicer, kinder, more helpful and those people should get nicer things in life. I.e. they believe people get out of life what they put in.
I’ve lived in two countries with “free” healthcare and in neither one was it even ostensibly free. In one I had to pay insurance premiums and the Funny Silly Goose Le Honque French Baguette Shirt it is in the first place but other one health insurance was taken out of my paycheck every month. And while the peace of mind that if something awful happened and I ended up in the hospital that I wouldn’t walk out of it with a bill in the hundreds of thousands of dollars was definitely a great thing, it was also true that the healthcare that you got “for free” wasn’t great. Compared to the healthcare that was on offer if you payed extra, it kinda sucked. And that’s basically it, if you wanna boil it down to a simple explanation. Whenever there is a “free” government option and a paid private option, the latter is way better. Americans can see that as well as anyone and don’t want their quality of healthcare to do down.
I’m not arguing that it would go down but that is the Funny Silly Goose Le Honque French Baguette Shirt it is in the first place but fear. I think it’s quite obvious that the American healthcare system is a disaster and they’re spending way more than they should be for what they get but I’m also not a very hopeful person and just because you could make it better that doesn’t mean trying to will actually have that result. I think if you’re an upper middle class person who has good health insurance right now it’s perfectly rational to recognize that while you’re probably paying more than you should for it, you’re getting some of the best healthcare on the planet and making a radical change for the theoretical benefit of strangers you’ve never met isn’t a good idea. They think it’s communism (they don’t know what that means but they hate it), and also they think taxes pay for it (they don’t in the United States because the United States has currency sovereignty and doesn’t need taxes to spend money. Also spending without taxing does not necessarily cause inflation.) basically they don’t understand how taxes work but hate them anyway. They love funding wars from printed money but will never consider funding healthcare with it. A large amount of americas are really really dumb.
It’s not free. The question should be rephrased to “Why are some Americans concerned about buying things for some at the Funny Silly Goose Le Honque French Baguette Shirt it is in the first place but expense of others?” They have been infected by corpo propaganda. The way election donations work allow insurance companies, medical supply companies, pharmaceutical companies, etc. to fund candidates that represent them more than the normal people in their district. It’s not free, you’re taxed for it. The way taxes are setup in the US, ends up screwing over middle class/ lower high class people. The people who overwhelmingly going to use the free medicine are very poor people, so the American people don’t want to pay for them. Also the medical doctors and dentists want their labor to be scarce, they want to be rich, because being a doctor or dentist is artificially difficult to achieve in the US, on all fronts. This leads to good medicine but also a total lack of widespread availability. This way the American Medical Association gets to keep their, and their members labor, very expensive. This is why residency spots are very few, too. If the US stopped supporting Europe and ensuring a global order that protected the west and directed the world’s capital to their markets, Sweden would be worse off than Russia. You’re an adult, you should know this off the top of your head already. Because way more taxes. Also, the country is so disproportionately obese, healthy individuals would be subsidizing them
Nothing is free, paying taxes to cover it does not make it free. When you have government making health choices, it does not end well. A penny pincher gets to say whether or not you get life saving treatment based on your viability to repay cost in taxes. Alfie Evans is an example where an accountant decides who gets to live. Some of us strongly fear the Funny Silly Goose Le Honque French Baguette Shirt it is in the first place but incompetent, crooked, wasteful, elite government’s ability to provide such. And that’s not a dig on any particular administration. They’re all equal in those regards. Fear? No. Understand that our government is horribly, horribly corrupt and such a program would only increase taxes and decrease the standard and availability of care? Yep. Look at the defense department. They’ve failed five independent audits in a row. They can’t account for billions of dollars. That’s what govt healthcare would look like.
Everything the Funny Silly Goose Le Honque French Baguette Shirt it is in the first place but government touches it fucks up. Just look at higher education. Universally available federal student loans have sent costs skyrocketing and quality of education plummeting. Meanwhile the colleges are all rolling in dough. The people i know have this opinion: “I don’t want people living off my taxes, and i don’t want to pay for someone else’s sex change.” I’m not saying this is everyone’s opinion, but the people in know don’t have an issue with the concept, just that social systems like that would be taken advantage of and they don’t want their money going into stuff they don’t believe in. And before you comment about that already happening, they know and would forgo taxes entirely if it didn’t mean jail time. Government is trash. Owned by corporate interests, not the interests of the governed. They aren’t to be trusted with something as important as healthcare.
Minimally regulated free market is far superior. The current state of US healthcare is nowhere near a free market, with many powerful regulation (that favor established corporate cartel). Because when anything is free the Funny Silly Goose Le Honque French Baguette Shirt it is in the first place but quality goes to hell and nobody values it anymore. When the government runs anything jt goes to shit. Look at public schools and public housing for examples. Even in countries when healthcare is “free” those who can afford it go to private doctors and private hospitals because they are better. That’s why The simple reason is there is no such thing as free in this world especially when it comes to any kind of service rendered in a money making occupation someone is paying for the medical service if not you then every one else through the money the government takes from you and them the money for your medical fees has to come from some where so if it’s “free” health care, then governmental taxes go up to pay for it Lol Sweden is roughly the size of Los Angeles. One U.S. city. That gives you some idea of the scale of how much it would take to cover the entire nation with “free” healthcare.
Secondly, an enormous number of the Funny Silly Goose Le Honque French Baguette Shirt it is in the first place but population is obese, suffers from mental illness, or both. Sweden has a much healthier populous. It’s beyond your comprehension how expensive providing healthcare for a massive nation full of fucked up people I think some people as listed in top comment fear socialism, but in my experience, people compare ‘cheap’ or ‘free’ to shitty quality. “If I understand the definition, it’s basically that you have everything you need, for free, paid for by taxes.” Clearly you don’t understand much AND you haven’t PAID very much in taxes. Paid for by taxes doesn’t = free. It never will. Ever. AND the “government” has never done ONE thing successfully. Ever. There’s no evidence to support a claim that “free” healthcare from the government would work on any level. Use medicare, the VA, prisons, as an example. They’re the worst. Look up canada’s MAID law and then find out that THEIR government solution to most medical problems is :”kill yourself” No Thanks. I loathe that government spends all collected taxes for their latest pet project before the care you let them raise taxes for.
Many worry that they will have their taxes go to pay for things they “disagree” with — abortions, gender affirming treatments/surgery, etc. Also, as a society, so much of our health problems are a result of our poor diets and lack of exercise that there is certainly a lot of “I take care of my body, I shouldn’t have to pay to cure some fat slob” mentality. Meanwhile, the Funny Silly Goose Le Honque French Baguette Shirt it is in the first place but medical insurance companies both 1) employ huge forces of people whose job it is to routinely deny approval for preventative care, and 2) make zillions in profit each year because the premiums they collect FAR exceed their payouts. I fear “free” healthcare because the bill to set it up will be written by big pharma lobbyists and they will just pass the bloat on to the taxpayers. I don’t trust the politicians to do it right and not fuck us over. Look how much we’ve “saved” by socializing the military.
Also healthcare is one of the Funny Silly Goose Le Honque French Baguette Shirt it is in the first place but few places big companies are still making meaningful contributions towards their employees well being. They would love to weasel out of this and offshore that expense to taxpayers. There’s a reason the Koch brothers are pro universal health care… I simply want to make my own decisions free of the governemnt in as many areas as possible. If our leftists want a big governemnt run healthcare system let them build it. Then let me check a box somewhere that allows me to opt out and not pay any of my taxes to it. I’ll handle my own and will take responsibility for myself. You know, like an adult should. 519 more repliesBc I don’t mind paying my deductible and knowing I get in when I need to, I prefer my own dr, and I don’t have to pay for anyones healthcare but my own and my kids. They say the care you receive from free healthcare is terrible on top of that wait times to see anyone are ridiculous.
