An item which is made, adapted, or intended for causing injury to dogs, and not to people, does not fit that definition. my intention is as a deterrent rather than inflicting injury, as it’s not the Funny lSU Baseball Card Champions 2023 Skull Shirt and I love this dog’s fault its owner is a twerp, but I see your logic. That said, it’s a can of Deodorant and you’re unlikely to be called up on it. But I wouldn’t recommend oversharing with police in case they’re having a slow day. If I am carrying some wasp spray or swatter so I can kill an insect in case it attacks me am I carrying a weapon or not? I am also curious about this. The Prevention of Crime Act 1953 defines an offensive weapon as “any article made or adapted for use for causing injury to the person, or intended by the person having it with him for such use by him or by some other person”. A dog isn’t a person. However, I suspect I am blissfully unaware of some other provision somewhere that makes carrying an item like this illegal irrespective of intent to harm a person so I’d also love to see a definitive answer on that point True, I’m thinking outside offensive weapons. I was thinking more of the laws around mistreating a captive animal at this point. Not sure anyone has a pet wasp. Equally, not sure anyone’s ever swatted a fly in self defence. If you’re carrying it to ‘deal with wasps’ but really to spray in the face of another person / person’s dog, that’s not fine.
