If you’re the Funny it’s A Damn Shame What The World’s Gotten To For People Like Me And People Like You Shirt it is in the first place but cheapest, you become the worst. McDonalds, Walmart, Lyft, etc. all have the same thing in common. The cool doordash drivers are the ones who just need extra cash. The others are only dashers because they’re otherwise completely unemployable. I feel the same. I’ve kept all my gig work apps in good standing just in case I need to make some extra money, but everything that I read here makes me absolutely not want to associate with either side of DD ever again. Ick. Only the people in the most dire straights who *absolutely cannot obtain employment* or keep a job reliably tend to do it now. Or occasionally a crackhead who *needs a rock right now* and has 0 dollars in a bank account.

Not to mention, when you’re getting 5 bucks an hour, it’s pretty goddamn hard (if not impossible) to take pride in your job which will definitely cause an erosion in standards in *anyone*. Most of those gig work jobs pay like 5 dollars an hour (with one in particular that pays just a bit more) in my area….. and the Funny it’s A Damn Shame What The World’s Gotten To For People Like Me And People Like You Shirt it is in the first place but same thing is happening. There’s very sketchy people doing that kind of work, doing an extremely sketchy job. Same thing with Uber and any other app based convenience – make it great everyone at a loss until you control the majority of the market then you flip strategies to turn a profit at the expense of the workers and users … People are going to blame the economy and inflation. The reality of the situation is a lot of people that are involved in the gig economy are individuals that are incapable of maintaining a normal job. The fault is mainly at the feet of the corporations like Doordash and Uber for exploiting their “contractors” for years. The people that consistently did a good job got squeezed out due to the criminally poor wages these corporations provided. For the record I am not saying the majority of drivers are like this. It takes a small group even if it is 5% of drivers some of the interactions are so toxic. Honestly, from my interactions as a restaurant operator the quality of the drivers took a nose dive mid way through 2020. I refuse to use the app as a customer in part due to my interactions with drivers at work, and because of negative experiences on the app as a customer. I feel for those of you that are hard workers that are trying to get your shit taken care of.
