Third bullet point: “Under the Funny Christmas Ramen shirt but I will buy this shirt and I will love this weight of student debt and childcare, they may still be worse off than prior generations.” You see that millennials? If you don’t have 128,000 you’re not even average. This is 100% bullshit to get you to work your ass off to try to be this illusion. A house is considered part of net worth (minus outstanding mortgage), so not really much of a statistic since median price of homes in US is now more than $400,000. Her net worth is probably all tied up in the house. Quite the misleading factoid. So it sounds like what they’re suggesting here is that people should sell everything valuable that they own in order to pay off student loans. Gotcha. I don’t have student loans, but I support student loan reform (forgiveness is alright but I’d rather fix the system). I want a better life for everyone, even if it doesn’t benefit me directly. It’s called being a good person and someone who cares about their community/country. Flying a flag on your truck and chanting “U. S. A.” does not feed any veterans or support anything but a delusional ideology of patriotism in show only. I’m sure if they were a homeowner, their net worth would be more than that. The home alone is worth more than that. These people writing the articles are out of touch with reality. Hi, I am apparently the average millennial. I did the math. 51% of my net worth is just the supposed equity gain on my house since I bought it two years ago. So yeah, me suspects they’re not pointing out the reality that, if you were lucky enough to buy a home at some point, the equity gain is basically the majority of your net worth and has nothing to do with your financial situation.
Funny Christmas Ramen shirt, hoodie, tank top, sweater and long sleeve t-shirt
Millennials are what, about 40+ yrs old right now? Having a net worth of only that at 40 should be considered a danger sign since retirement for them is going to require twice as much as Gen X’ers. What frigging average? Net worth probably means house equity after figuring in mortgage, for those of us lucky to have one, but me in particular has a net worth of -$100k Honestly, that is a very low net worth, and most of the Funny Christmas Ramen shirt but I will buy this shirt and I will love this value is probably from the home likely leaving minimal liquid assets. So yeah, this sh*t is misleading as hell. I might fit this example except that I’m 40 (so older millennial, not the picture of youth as in this article), my net worth is higher when you combine the retirement fund for me and my wife, my wife has student loans still despite her being gen x.
