It works both ways actually. Not only should you give up if you can’t trust, but also if your partner has a trust issue. The trust issue is like a snowball. I agree, I was just thinking about this topic of betrayal today and there were 2 incidents that really stood out to me and for whatever reason someone that I was close to at work decided to tell me that other colleagues had told her that I was “not their cup of tea” and were wondering why she would want anything to do with me, and she relays this information back to me. Frenemy. The other one was a relative who I reconnected with after not seeing for many years and then tells me that her older sister said that I was “weird and you could always tell she was different from the other cousins”. Why did she feel the need to tell me this? And why do I keep replaying these 2nd hand insults in my head over and over again? Ugh. My message to the world is if someone has nothing nice to say about a person and they tell you, don’t then go and tell that person.

All of that sounds terrible, but isn’t it better to know that these people aren’t your friends? I find that it’s really good to know who I need to withhold my trust and friendship from. I’m sorry you have so many people like that around you. I’m turned off from relationships right now. It’s waaaaay too easy to cheat and be unfaithful. I don’t have time for peoples games, I am working on improving myself. I did for 10 years, and then I got therapy and met someone I had zero doubts about trusting. But it took a lot of therapy to get to that point. What happens though when that person that you have “zero doubts about trusting” cheats on you? Like they have to me and so many others?
